Naked News, an online pay-TV channel featuring topless anchorwomen, has collapsed a month after its sensational debut in Korea.
Both its headquarters in Yeoksam-dong, southern Seoul, and its Web site, www.nakednews.co.kr, have been shut down.
....
Executives of Naked News Korea, the operator of the news program, are reportedly on the run. Its president, John Chau, has reportedly fled to another country.
Anchorwomen of the program claimed that the company has not paid salaries to them and other staff.
...
"We got paid nothing this month," said another anchor, in tears. "They arbitrarily changed contract terms to make it difficult for us to quit the job."
They claimed the company is not a franchise of the Canadian company that has been providing similar services since 1999.

Not just English teachers get shafted on money then.
Poor girls, I bet they read the news really well too. |

Yes, this was definitely bad news. Who wouldn't want to watch
scantily clad Korean women parade around on a news show? I don't
know about the quality of the journalism, but, who cares. Anyway, the
worst, most idiotic show any moron could come up with would beat
"Arirang". Hands down.
We can still watch the Korean racing girl pool tourneys on late night TV.
Even though there is no race, they still get my motor going. |

Seemed the site was pretty popular.
Why doesn't someone just come in and take it over? Looks like the set and equipment could be bought for a bargain. Pay the employees 1 extra month salary to make up for being ripped off and you don't even have to scout out naked females.
I would take the newscasters and promote them in events at places like Gangnam, Myeongdong. A big market would be portability. A lot of people won't be watching Naked News at the local PC bang in plain view of the public, but you make it so they can watch it on their PMP, MP3, or cell phones and the viewer can watch it privately on their own time.
Have an initial free promotional period to give people a chance to preview "the goods" before subscribing. I'd also setup a day of the week where an amateur would do a newscast.
Have a couple women fluent in English do some Korean news in English for those Expats in Korea.
Do many things you can do with this. So sad that the executives only thought about making the quick profit, instead of turning this into a successful business. |

I agree and think this could be a gold-mine if marketed correctly. First thing, to be done is re-brand this thing since the girls weren't getting nude. The name of the show has to accurately reflect its content. Feel bad for the girls that had the courage to do this and are now out of jobs, money. Might also be hard to get other jobs now b/c of their participation in the NNK. |

I am curious how much the subscriptions cost, because 30,000 people signed up! |

Nah... you can find the stuff on Youtube. Maybe they took their tops off later on, but not initially.
I read that a few of the reporters quit because the owner tried to make it fully nude service in an effort to attract more subscribers. |

That is what it's like in Canada. They even showed it on TV late at night, full monty. (City TV)
wonder if they would still have the traditional full korean bush if it was shown on tv? |
