|
|
hey guys,
I'm thinking of buying my friends Magma motor bike from him, as he is going back to the states next week. Its a Magma 125cc and he is looking for W500,000 (which I think is fair).
But, when I asked about insurance, he claims he rode without insurance or registration or even a licence! Several of our friends all claimed the same story, and it seems to be commom practise amongst Foreigners over here. The reason they gave me for not having insurance or licence was "Police over here don't care about whities! Its too much paperwork and hassle for them if they pull you over!" Case closed.
Am i mad or is this common practise? I'm in Busan. |

No, it's NOT common practise. Get a license and register the bike. |

your associates who got away were the lucky ones. Don't think that you'll be as fortunate. |

Other people are stupid, so I should join in and be stupid too. While you're on a stupidity binge why don't you also get some pot sent to yourself through the mail. Oh yea and remember not to wear a helmet! |

riding without insurance is a big gamble.
you most likely wouldn't get into any trouble, but if you did have an accident, you're totally screwed!
I didn't have insurance and this crazy old lady was running across the street right into me. I was on the bike, she ran right into the side of me and fell over.
she faked a neck injury and sued me. no insurance meant I had to pay out of pocket- 1.5 million won
even though the "accident" was her fault and she was faking her injury, I had to pay.
it's possible that she could have taken me for much more, so that's the big gamble you take.
if you do decide to go without insurance, then if you have an accident, get the h3ll out of there.
the only way you should ever stick around is if you are immobile or you can absolutely, without a doubt, prove that the other person was totally at fault. even then, that's a gamble because you may think you can prove it, but they may produce a "witness" who says it was your fault.
be careful and when in doubt, get the h3ll out of there as fast as possible.
do not wait around for someone to lie and totally screw you out of your hard earned money.
my advice- get the insurance! |

It's risky, especially because your total cost of registration and insurance is under 250 bucks. Is saving that amount of money worth the troubles you'll have if you hit a pedestrian and have to pay hospital bills, or hit a mercedes and have to pay for the damage?
Think very carefully before you do this. |
