Why buy fake Polo? Sure it is a little more expensive here than in North America, but it is worth it. Ralph Lauren's Polo line is generally well made and should last you many years, so spend the cash and get the quality. Saying that, avoid the shoes and accessories, as they usually fall apart quite quickly.

I have a student who works for Lacoste who told me there is very little difference between the fake and the real one. So, why pay more for a real one when a fake is just as good quality?

cant get fake lacoste for love or money at the moment (believe me i've tried) even the REAL ones that are good are scarce in the real shops (both lotte and shinsaegae didn't have the shade of green i wanted - all sold out was the answer i got)

you can get fake polo from nampo dong, quality is really good. however - when i went to shinsaegae on sunday, i think about 30% of the korean population were wearing polo - real or fake. thats 30% of about 10,000 people or more in the store at that time, it was totally ridiculous.

i've been told by koreans though that they never think westerners wear the fake ones though, so you might have that in your favor!

sorry this is in busan... no idea about seoul. if you do find nampo dong go all the way along the shops towards nampo dong subway station (heading from jagalchi station) until you come to a three way intersection and take the route heading away from jagalchi proper (hard to explain - you should see an ABC mart shoe shop and go past a doc martin's place if you are going the right way). after a while you should take a left on that street to go into a smaller street (again this description sucks) and they are all there... if that fails ask where the 'gukje shijang' is and look around there (but the better / cheaper fakes were where i already said)

sorry for the poor description but nampo dong can be a freaking maze.
