It makes more sense to me that people should be concerned about McCain's birth than Obama's. (not that I don't believe McCain is a citizen. He is.)
I mean, there is actual documentation that hewas born in during a time when "natural born" citizenship was ambiguous in the Panama Canal. Yet no one seemed to have been that up-in-arms about it. |
He isn't President. If he was, you can be damn sure the exact same nonsense would be coming from the left. Don't be naive.
And dude. Grown men/women don't use "lol". |
Is there a source for either of your claims? |

An excellent answer which sums up the case of those who believe Obama's certificate is a fraud quite nicely.
At this point they're essentially asserting that some sort of vast conspiracy is occuring, one run by people so powerful, subtle, and connected that they have the Hawaiian State Goovernment on a leash, yet so stupid that amateur internet detectives were able to see through the birth certificate they opted to forge (rather than having their pet state government simply issue a legitimate one).
That's certainly one possibility. Alternatively, they could simply be wrong and letting their dislike of Barack Obama blind them. I wonder which is more likely? |
If the information on this video is correct, then the gov't of Hawaii is technically not lying. But the document is not really proof either.

This is a controversial claim, very likely the result of over-heated campaign shenanigans.
Even Wikipedia is skeptical:
"There has long been speculation that the future president was actually born in Canada and that the family moved to Fairfield later. If Arthur had been born in Canada, a minority opinion is that he would not have been a natural-born citizen, even though his mother was a U.S. citizen, and would have been constitutionally ineligible to serve as vice president or president.[3] During the 1880 U.S. presidential election a New York attorney, Arthur P. Hinman, was hired to explore rumors of Arthur's foreign birth. Hinman alleged that Arthur was born in Ireland and did not come to the United States until he was fourteen years old. When that story failed to take root Hinman came forth with a new story that Arthur was born in Canada. This claim also fell on deaf ears." |

Actually, dozens of lawsuits were filed against both McCain and Obama re: their being constitutionally unqualified for the Presidency due to not being native born citizens. It was the same people filing against both. I thought all of the actual legal cases had been dismissed or lost by now. Of course, some people will never give up.

I remember the case against Obama getting much more press coverage, even before Obama was nominated the Dem. Party candidate.

LOL!
I haven't seen much in the way of the "left" targeting John McCain's citizenship. Not in scope, not in duration, not in fanaticism....lol. Even if McCain somehow managed to become president, there would be much better ways to target him than his citizenship.

The emoticon and "lol" are tools reserved for i) individuals unable to adequately express themselves with words and ii) tween girls.
The lefties were consumed, rightly, with Sarah Palin. McCain would be facing an absolutely hysterical political left now had he won. It is a certainty that some of them would have become "birthers".
The bigger picture in all this isn't that x number of Republicans are crazy. Like the "truthers" who tend left, this dust-up is merely the latest reminder that significant portions of American society are utterly alienated from the mainstream. They do not trust media that is anywhere near mainstream. This will grow and grow overtime. |

I don't have a 'source' for something that didn't happen in a future that didn't happen.
Maybe you missed it. You know that phrase you're using lately to be clever; Obama derangement syndrome? Well, people on your team where bloody hysterical for about 6 years. Had Mac won, they'd have gone completely off the deep end. |

Individuals who refuse to accept the certificate that has been presented by Obama (despite the Hawaiian Government asserting that it was legitimate), and then go on to accept this alleged Kenyan certificate (despite the hospital in question saying they have no record of him having been born there) are simply hilarious. |

Here's an interview by MSNBC with the attorney for the birthers, Orly Taitz.
| Quote: |
| The only ones who are on the fringe are Obama's brownshirts in the media that insult people and will not let them speak out the truth. |

Wow, truly shocking. Equally shocking are some of the comments posted below the video, which claim Dr. Taitz won the "debate" (let's hope they are trolling). I'm glad these dangerous lunatics are being mocked and marginalized by the MSM. There's no point trying to reason with this crowd. I know some people will say we should just ignore them, but I like what Bill Maher had to say about this;

| And laughing it off has also been the reaction from Democratic leaders so far, proving that Democrats never learn. Because in America, you know what, if you don't immediately kill arrant bullshit, no matter how ridiculous, it can grow and thrive and eventually take over, like crab grass or cirque de soleil. |

| Republicans who are questioning Obama's citizenship are only shooting themselves in the foot. It's like they don't want Schwarzenegger to be president. |

I don't buy it.
Sure there were (and remain) some wacky lefties, but:
a) in the same numbers?
b) with a media platform with national exposure?
c) with members of Congress introducing legislation?
I don't even see any relevance to comparing Birthers to Truthers. As far as I could tell, the Truthers were just your run-of-the-mill knee-jerk anti-government types, not liberals.
And what's wrong with the phrase 'Obama Derangement Syndrome'? When I saw it in a couple of articles a couple of weeks back, I thought, "A-ha! The American Psychiatric Association is really on the ball with this diagnosis." Then I found out it hasn't been entered in the books officially yet, but I'm sure it will be soon.
I don't know how anyone would go about really proving it, but I'd bet my next several months salary that there is a very very close correlation between Birthers and racists, with any spare percentage points being accounted for by discharged-but-not-cured psychotics.
Back in the 50's the John Birch Society was making noises over on the right. William F. Buckley publically read them out of the conservative movement. Ann Coulter has spoken up, but she doesn't have ole Bill's cachet. The only one who might, Rush, is playing to the Birthers. |
