I have to start making these reports now and I don't have any idea what they are. I'm with EPIK just to let you know and I teach 1st and 2nd year high school.
Can anyone with experience on this help please? |

hey ease up. The guy isn't a licensed teacher. I also have no idea what a class report is and wouldn't know what is meant by it but am also sure I could figure out in short order, once someone explained it to me.
teaching isn't nuclear science. I know this because I've met teachers when I was helping out and tutoring stateside. A lot of these people struck me as fairly unintelligent (believe it or not)
Should be pretty easy.
class report:
class was the same today
min su wouldn't stop talking
jin ho slept the entire time
su an looked at herself in the mirror for 50 minutes and checked her cellphone every 15 secs
etc etc. |

OP I'm sure if you Google "class report" you'll get more helpful ideas and tips then you will on Dave's. Not flaming you...just saying. |

First person you should ask is your co-teacher. They are trained at such things. If you are not on speaking terms with your co-t then make a standard report: on each students: how many days attended, absent; make a rubric: speaking, writing, reading on what level is little Minsu at; what should he improve; and so on.
Make everything positive and not a hint of criticism or negativity. Even a slight criticism from teacher can mean cancellation of all holiday plans for little Minsu and he'll hate you until... the next report. |

I see there are some who can think on their feet and some who cannot. |

Indeed I'm sure that ever Corean teacher receives extensive training on how to help clueless foreigners who get parachuted into their schools complete simple and obvious tasks. |

| I took some advice and talked to some of my co-teachers. They essentially want to me to write out my lesson plans for every class I teach. That's a b*tch of task if I say so myself. Has anyone else had the pleasure of doing this tendious work? |

Retroactively. I wish they'd told me sooner but on the bright side I've only been teaching for a couple of weeks. I just don't relish the idea of having an extra chore to do when I'm trying to figure out solutions to my already existing problems. I still haven't found a second legal job at a night school. |

Writing lesson plans is really not that hard though. Do you have any books with Teacher's Guides? You could just copy those....or failing that cut and paste off the Internet, though don't make it obvious.
And forgive me for asking but are you on an E-2 visa by any chance? I ask because to the best of my knowledge, an E-2 does NOT allow you to work legally at a public school AND a hakwon if the P.S is your primary sponsor. The other way around, yes. |

OP; Are you still letting your classes out ten minutes early? Maybe this 'tedious' work is a direct result of this.
Why don't you figure out how to do your existing job properly before applying for another?
Just a thought. |

For evaluations this site is useful: http://www.esltool.com/
The templates work fairly well as a basic starting point. Fine tuning them from there shouldn't prove too difficult.
If you're in need of daily class reports, you might want to set up a basic template with the following criteria: lesson objectives, effectiveness, comprehension, and attitude. Using scales like 1 - 5 or 1 - 10 can also be helpful. K.I.S.S. and good luck!
