My current school has said that they are going to shut down if they don't get at least 30 kids for the next semester starting in September. They were shooting for 30 for the Summer session, and they only got 6...so, I'm pretty sure they'll shut down.

In the meantime, I want to get things in order for making the switch in September. I want to go to Busan (right now I'm in Daejeon).

I've contacted some recruiters that post all over DavesESL and Craigslist, but they usually stop contact with me when I tell them that I'm not going to have any letter of transfer (is that even necessary?). I'm willing to do a visa run to clear up my status and all that, but I'm just trying to find a decent, experienced recruiter that can help me get through to another school.

Can you guys recommend anyone to me?

Jobs are a dime a dozen right now in korea. Using a recruiter...is a waste.... in my opinion.
Get out and pound the pavement or do a search for jobs on this site in busan.
Send out your resume to as many schools as possible. I just did a search on this site and saw 13 listings for busan. Many recruiters also.

Don't know if you've already tried KimnJoe.com, but they are pretty reputable for the east coast. I almost took a job in Busan through them but I got a better offer. There's a woman there named Mini Kim who was very helpful.

I would also recommend Amy Lee from Kimnjoe. She was our recruiter and a friend. She'll help you sort out the visa issues

Do you have her e-mail address? I've tried writing Kimnjoe using the e-mail address they provide in their ads (such as this one), but I haven't received any response from them.

Post your resume on Dave's ESL, post your resume on Serious Teacher. You should get tons of offers.
For a recruiter check out ASKNow. The best I have dealt with so far. If they can't find what you want, they will tell you the truth. No games, no messing around.

Good luck.

Kimnjoe reputable? Laughing

why do they publish jobs for weeks after they are filled?
why do they lie and tell you that certain positions are filled? (and you find out later that they were not actually filled)
why do they offer you a kindergarten job when you state you are after adults or ask you questions that are clearly answered in your application and resume?

This mob is over-rated and Mia is the rudest, most unhelpful recruiter I have ever dealt with.

ASKNow is fantastic. They even sponsor and arrange events for foreigners in Korea. Mudfest, rafting, Busan beach trips. Whenever I am looking for a position, they are the first people I check with.

They were great with me and everybody else I know. I do know that if you act like a person of entitlement you will be treated as such.

And to the OP, there is always going to be somebody, somewhere that isn't satisfied with the service we get. I guess Proustian is that person.

Since it is the summertime, one of them could be on vacation. I've learned that the best way to get results is to make a phone call.
