I am leaving Saturday morning to go back to Korea ... I can't seem to get all my stuff to fit in my luggage ... should I check an extra bag? Is it worth it? Has anyone ever had any trouble with this? |

you should get these large ziplock bags that vaccum seals. the vaccuum will suck all the air out flattening your clothes...
i packed all my clothes into 3 xl ones. it went from 30 cm down to 12cm... huge diff!
i can fit all of my clothes into one bag and im bringing another for shoes and other stuff! |

But what about weight? That's always my problem, because I pack so much in a suitcase, I end up having to take stuff out or pay the diffence. How much does the bag with all your clothes weigh? |

You could alway ship it K-post. It's kinda amazingly cheap, but it can take a while to get there. I shipped a box home last year (clothes mostly) and it took about 6 weeks to finally show up. |

The OP is coming BACK to Korea.
OP, I'd recommend getting someone to ship you a box of stuff - it'll be pricey, but likely less than the $100+ it costs to check an extra bag. Depends on how much money you're willing to throw around, I guess. Maybe leave the winter clothes at home for now and get them sent over later? |

For some airlines in the U.S., on international flights, you are allowed 2 checked bags up to 50 lbs each. |

I got those vacuum seal bags at Walmart. I got the ones you just push the air out, not use a vacuum cleaner. It worked really well on sweaters and jackets.
I flew on Asiana and checked one bag at 70 pounds for an extra $50.
The US post office stopped shipping by boat; first class is as low as they go now for shipping overseas and it is by weight. It ends up being not cheap. |

Agree with the above. Mailing stuff from the US is no longer an economical option. make sure you have bags you can reasonable schlep around the airport and weigh them all carefully. (You don't want to have one at 52 lbs. and two more at 48!) |
