I know similar things have been done before, but I thought it might be fun to see what hidden or not so hidden gems people have. I've always lived in or near Seoul, but that topic has been done to death. What do those of you living outside of Seoul have on offer, beyond the Korean food your area is "famous" for, that might brighten the day of a new FT or someone passing through your area? |

To get things moving, Marty's American Bar & Grill is a place I love up in Dongducheon. My buddy and our families were just up for dinner today, and the food is as solid as ever. I know that Dongducheon, particularly the Bosan Station area where Marty's is located, is overloaded with US military due to the close proximity of bases. If you can stomach that, there's nothing better than a few beers and a cheesesteak or burger outside on their patio on a summer evening.
People have been asking about Pocheon, Uijeongbu, Yangju and Yeoncheon recently, and this place is within a reasonable distance of all those places. here's the link: http://martys.co.kr/
By the way, the nightlife up there can be pretty surreal too. Not for the faint of heart, but certainly worth a visit. |

I've been to the Mexican place with actual Mexican cooks, but the name escapes me. It was definitely worth it though. Afraid I don't have any links for it though. Only been to Songtan once, and that was a few years ago. That's why I started this thread up though. Anyone in the know on Songtan? |
