That is an interesting article although alot of the references are dead kinks or links elsewhere. I do have a couple of problems. In the main source for the paragraph regarding detoxing, there seems to be only 2 people referred to and their ancedotal evidence. One is a naturopathic doctor(not good sign) and the other is a naval health researcher(who talks about his own personal experience). this would not constitute evidence imo.
The earthworm study is very interesting. Does it translate to humans?
Looking around the web, there doed seem to be alot of studies done on this so I'll have a look. |
It might be a little late in the thread for this but here's a link to the Naturopathic Doctor curriculum for one of the 5 accredited ND schools in the states.
http://www.ncnm.edu/academics/Program_Layouts.php
It's very similar to an Allopathic (MD) program except they teach natural cures instead of prescription drugs. I trust ND's more than MD's. ND advice diagnosed and cured my allergies after MD's failed for 4 yrs straight by prescribing antihistamines and saying I was screwed for life.
As a side note, I only trust ND's from the 5 accredited colleges and only if they've been licensed in certain states. Certain states have no regulations and anyone with a 2 week internet diploma can call themselves an ND. |

So I'm going to start my fast on Saturday. I think I will start with 9 days and see how it goes.
Regarding Bentonite and Senna tea.
-Can anyone tell me where they have been able to buy those here? I haven't been able to find them.
-Can someone provide a translation for those two products?
-If they are unavailable to me, does anyone know of adequate substitute products?
A Korean person here suggested that I might need a prescription to get bentonite. True?
-Maple syrup. Simply can't find it in my little town. Especially grade B. I understand that honey is a poor subsititue, but that molasses is a good subsititue. True?
If so, what would molasses be called in Korean, and do they even have that product here. I have looked in Homever and E-mart, but didn't see them.
Thanks in advance for any help someone can give me. |
You shouldn't need a prescription for Bentonite, it's just clay. They sell it in liquid or powder form. The whole purpose is to get something solid flowing through your system to gather all of the nasties and carry them out to freedom. Even the frog king and sparrow prince!! Brave brave Lemiwinks

Well, the way I was told about it goes like this: given the shape of your intestinal tract, matter is bound to build up on the far corners as it goes around the curves. This is the reason bran makes you crap, btw, because it scrapes that stuff off. But when you fast, all this gunk caught up on the edges of your intestines comes out. That's why when you fast you get some really freaky dumps. |
I've fasted before, about once every year, and I've never had any "freaky dumps"- ever. What are you guys eating? |

Let me offer a couple suggestions to make things smoother.
1. If you are allowing yourself beverages, avoid anything acidic, such as orange juice or coffee.
4. Be careful not to exert yourself too much.
Hope you found it as helpful as I have in the past. |
Why no coffee and why no exercise?
I've been working out for about three weeks and feeling good...eating only veggies and a little beef, trying to lose that last five pounds I need to shed and was thinking about fasting. |

I fast from dawn until sunrise for a month every year. No food or water is consumed during those hours. I do it because it is Ramadan and I'm a Muslim.
I normally feel weak or strange when it starts, but once I get into the routine, it feels good.
I feel as though my system is being cleaned out. |

| Ramadan is such a baby fast...all day no food. All night binge eating. Man what would a Muslim do on Good Friday? |

OK, I don't have time to read all 11 pages of posts, but is there anything someone could suggest that a juice faster could get from a store here in Korea?
I live above a grocery store, and bought some clear beverages last night with the fast I started today in mind . . . but I'm just wondering whether I should drink Gatorade, or other bottled juices that I bought (or just stick to a water fast for 3 days--- unless I have blood sugar problems, and drink the "juices" I bought for later).
I don't have time to make juices . . . and I don't wanna buy a juicer. I'm fasting for spiritual reasons, so I'm struggling with whether tasting the juice will be a deterrent to my goals.
First-time faster, who has just skipped their first normal meal,

How can you tell which are "unsweetened"?
(I can read the Korean letters, but have no clue what they all mean). |

For a forward observer, you seem to spend way too much time in the past. |

Any time's a good time, but you do get cold when fasting (at least the first few days). Maybe try it in the summer when it's a little easier to maintain comfortable body heat. |
