what would you do differently?
I would have gone to Seoul!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Actually, knowing what I know now I don't think I would have come at all.
Did meet my boyfriend here and made a ton of wonderful friends (unfortunately none of them Korean although I did adore my co-teachers) here. Had a lot of really fun times, but good riddance nonetheless! |

I've only been here a month but if I could do it all over again I'd remember not to give even an inch. If you give them an inch they will go for a mile. |

I would have saved more money and done more to learn Korean and looked to move up the ESL ladder to a college gig. I always knew I was going to return to the US to grad school, however, and did not try to move up. |

I would have brought more shoes, and not taken a job in a small village far away from civilization. And maybe brought my racing bike with. |

I probably would have gone to Taiwan instead....
but in terms of Korea, I would have jumped on the part-time train right away, instead of doing a full-time gig. I've made as much in the last 4 months as a first or second year full time teacher makes in one year. Wish I thought about it sooner! |

Could you expand on that? How did you manage that? Part-time + privates? |

I would have played up the part of the evil foreign man: More drugs, rampant sex with Korean women, AIDS, swine flu, and I would have gotten a 2nd fake diploma. I would have also eaten less spicy foods. |

If you go to the public bathes and let someone scrape you with hand scourer - like you might use back home to clean a caked-on baking pan - you won't need the deodorant. |

Don't waste your time with Korean universities. They are NOT a move up the ESL ladder. They are just a horizontal move to another ESL job in Korea. |

The only problem with korea is that it has too many koreans....you people need to spread out instead of living like sardines, be more outgoing, accept all cultures, quit being two-faced condescending fools! |

Be more specific. Seoul has shoes? Are you a guy? Guys don't have that problem, but Korean women only have feet going up to 250mm. I hate it. Why are Korean women's feet so bloody small? I don't want to pay W300 000 for a pair of shoes in Itaewon! |
