|
|
I've purchased a converter for my two pronged electrical devices. This converter includes a transformer and adapters for two pronged devices. However, do I not also need an adapter to plug my laptop (three prong) in to the wall? My understanding is the laptop will not need to go through the transformer, but I still need some sort of adapter.
In other words, where do I find a three prong US to Korean adapter? |

Yongsan in Seoul if you are there. Also, you could check GMarket. They have them on there for like 60,000 (a bit expensive). |

Your laptop power brick should work fine. You just need an adapter to allow for the physical difference in the prongs. Verify this by looking at the power brick, it will have the specs printed on it.
Just a simple prong adapter can be picked up at any local neighborhood electronics store and costs about 500 Won. |

Exactly. Just look at the power brick on the power cord for your laptop. It should clearly say something like "input 100-220v" As long as it says that, all you need is the 500 won plastic adapter. They're easy to find; any small electronic shop or stationary store should have one. |

most of the adaptors are for 2 prongs (no hole for the grounding prong) so you might have to seek out a more expensive, Universal Adaptor (or international). I've seen them for sale at Lotte Mart and other, common stores.
Or just head to Yongsan like the other posters said, you'll find it, no problem. |

in some places in yongsan you can actually buy the cable part that you can use to replace your current cable on your cord. the part of the cable is the one that connects to the wall on one end, and to the power brick on the other end. then again, an adapter is cheaper probably. |

You can just put the black plug adapter on the US two prongs and have the grounding one lay idle. |

Go into the local electronic store in your neighborhood with your computer cord and say 'adapter'. They cost 5000won and are available in every local electronic store. It you still can't find one... pm me and I can pick up one for you near my house.
Note, they are white and do not look like the average us adapter. |

I just brought my laptop charger to a HP store. I got a new cord for the part that runs from the laptop brick to the wall which worked fine. (for the two round prongs that are here). It cost me 8000W. |

Are you already in Korea? If not (or if you can buy online) Targus makes an adapter that accomodates the three prongs. I bought it iat Best Buy in the States.
Here it is on Amazon.com (if for some reason you need to order it online):

As others have said, you don't need the power converter if you have a laptop. |
