Apparently, a new law has been passed recently regarding illegal downloading. My gf has her knickers in a twist about it and is worried I'll get caught.
Is there a way to download files anonymously? I was using a private Korean server, but because you need to register with name and ID number, my gf won't use it any more.
I generally use torrents and sometimes p2p like Emule. How safe are they from prying eyes?

your safest bet would be to sign up for newsgroup service. there isn't really any way to detect what you're downloading and you don't have to worry about fluctuating download speeds (you download from a server, not from seeders). the only draw back is newsgroup service is subscription based (only like $10-15USD), but it's totally worth it if you download a lot.

Korea declared downloading illegal just like London declared pot illegal. No one cares. Korea recently signed onto an international declaration that they would increase pressure on illegal downloaders, etc, but in this land of technology, no one has cared, and no one will care. I've downloaded about a hundred gigs, and uploaded about 7 times that much. I use piratebay.org primarily, but I don't think that matters; the isp can track you if they want. But they don't want.[/i]

I doubt the Korean habit of downloading on average a movie a week will be broken anytime soon. (http://www.koreatimes.co.kr/www/news/nation/2007/12/117_15717.html)

there are always ways to find workarounds. its called hacking. google anonymous ip. or if you really want to do things with elegance, set up a web server on your computer. make a public file uploader.... and download the file you want from a coffee shop and upload it to yourself
