|
|
recently some family members tried to call me for my birthday and said that they couldn't get through and that there was a message telling them that the number was not in service.
i verified the number with them through email (001-82-010-xxxx-xxxx format), and also had them try to call my school and a few random businesses in korea, and they always got the same message.
i tried to call them as well, and had a similar message delivered in english and korean saying that the numbers were restricted and the call could not be completed.
i didn't have any trouble with this when i first came in march, and it's certainly not something with my cell phone service if they can't call other lines in korea (cell phones and land lines).
anyone else having this problem or know what's happening?
(yes, i know skype and internet chatting is free, but it's attached to my computer whereas my cell phone is mobile, which is why i want to get this working. also, not everyone i know uses skype.) |

I thought the international dial out was 011, not 001. |

If you're calling a cell/mobile in Korea the number should be:
011 (international dialling number) + 82 (Korea's country code) + cell/mobile phone number MINUS the first '0'.
In other words, if you number cell number starts with 010-..., then you only dial 10-.... The first '0' only applies for calls made within Korea. |
