Hi, does every new visa from your home country need an interview, or only the people with their first visas?

read on the site for the Chicago consulate wording that makes it seem everyone would, but I'd read differently on here- anyone able to share experiences?

that's what I thought... the website just says basically if it's at a private school- they exclude EPIK, and presumably GEPIK and SMOE, but makes no reference to the number...

my interview, by phone, only took 2 minutes. He asked me if I had any teaching experience. How long I had taught in China and about my degree.
Simple, and then he said that he would issue the visa.

Basically, if you get a NOA, you don't have to do the interview. If you get a Visa Confirmation Number, you have to do the interview. Which one you get depends on the type of school, like SMOE gets NOA, and hagwon's get VCN.

Yeah, but I wonder about if you've had a PRIOR E2 visa.... not that I'd mind a trip to the consulate- hate to let go of the PP when i dont need to...

I work through the Los Angeles Consulate, and I would have had an 8hr drive. They deemed that to be too far. This is my first time in Korea, and I read so many negative things, that I hope that I will like it. I'm told that I'll know in 3 months. Tell your consulate, especially if it is in another state, that you don't have the money to go there. My consulate asked me where I live and they told me I'll do a phone interview - 2 mins. later, they told me that I have a visa.

If you've had an E-2 before, you don't need the interview. Just if it's your first time.
