Fill your soju cup with water. Unless they smell or taste it, they won't know the difference.
Just tell them no thank you. |

Works for me. One boss tried to bully me into drinking "poktanju," years ago. I stood up to him and everyone else was decent about it. |

Good for you! Hopefully that kind of courage just might effect change in this "booze soaked" society. Let's hope so! Hats off to you Bramble. |

It's not going to change a thing, because there are foreigners like me who take the challenge and drink them under the table! If I throw up, it isn't until I get home, so no one ever knows. They just think "He is very drink!"
I rarely drink, never alone, but won't turn down a drunken night on the town! |

Suck it up. Literally. Join the party, that is what life is all about. I'm not saying a person should need booze to have fun, but it helps!
People who don't drink scare me |

| As some of the replies here have stated, there is a difference between getting "drunk" and "drinking". It's true alot of my weekends in Korea were spent in a drunken haze, but for school related outings I always kept it in check. I am also a lightweight (as a girl) but I find it is pretty easy to keep your wits about you even while doing shots of soju so long as there is ample time between shots and plenty of water. If you order a beer/mixed drink, NURSE it, and people should stay off your case. In those instances where shots are being done, drink atleast a full glass of water between shots until you feel you have reached your limit, and then politely refuse. Use any excuse; stomach ache, headache, early morning activity, whatever. |

Why relate non-drinking to religion? I rarely drink because I like to wake up in the morning and do stuff....ride, hike...whatever. Nothing to do with having a superstitious belief..... |
