|

I'm a musician that's looking to potentially start up a band once in Seoul or in another part of Korea. I enjoy singing and playing a bit of guitar. Currently I'm in a great little cover band in my small, Canadian town and it's a great way to pass time/make a few extra coins.
What is the scene like in Seoul and other parts of Korea? |

Basically there's one neighborhood in all of Korea that has a rock music scene, it's called Hongdae and it's in west-central Seoul. There are about half a dozen bars that have live bands every weekend, mostly punk, ska, and hardcore.
This website is full of info on the Korean punk rock/underground music scene, you can find info on all the venues and popular bands, as well as classifieds for people who want to start bands:

| almost every town that has an expat bar has a band or two...if you like to play covers you'll have opportunities to play at open mics and the like and meet like-minded individuals. hongdae is THE place for indie rock. |
