I left a public school 7 months into the contract because I was getting really fed up with all the BS they were giving me as well as my main reason for coming to Korea (spending time with my Korean family) was not being met due to the distance between my city and theirs.
Ideally I wanted to transfer to another PS, but the specific city I wanted to go to (where my family lives) is in the same POE where my public school was. When I talked to the POE supervisor, he insisted that a transfer was out of the question and that I would have to finish up my contract. If I got a good review there, than the next school year he'd place me in the city I requested.
However, I did not want to spend another year in Korea due to personal reasons and instead took up a job at a hagwon in the city I want, figuring I could finish up my year there and then just quit early to go back home.
However, due to those personal reasons changing and the economy still being shitty, I would like to leave my not so nice hagwon to go back to a public school in my current city. (I have only been at my current hagwon for 5 months). The recruiter I talked to said that he could not help me because having quit early before, EPIK would not even look at my application to consider it. Especially if I'm leaving my current hagwon early too.
I know I really f*ed up. There is so much I would change if I could go back in time. (The number one thing being applying through a recruiter rather than directly to EPIK as they didn't place me where I wanted and told me the day I was to meet my school where I had been placed so couldn't really change anything then!)
However, being in the situation I am in now, I am wondering if anyone has ever dealt with something like this? If I were to try for a different POE area, would they still not wanna consider me? (Incidently, there is a really big city - so it's own POE - next to where I currently live that is much closer than the original city I was posted in even though they are in the same POE.) Or any advice for me? Or am I just f*ed until my contract at my hagwon is up? Again, I really know I really f*ed up.
Also... should add. I'm on an F4 so I don't have to deal with the whole E2 mess. |

Well I'm not going to tell you that you messed up...you've realized that...so chalk it up to a learning experience.
That said, a F-4 gives you some more latitude in this situation. If I were you, I would approach the public schools directly rather than through EPIK or a recruiter as doing so may prejudice your case (as your recruiter said.). |

There may be a privately run public school around the city you want to live in. They would be unlikely to recruit from EPIK or come under the POE.
Not all hagwon gigs suck. Being an F4 you are in a good position. Look around the city and do your research. |
