Anyone else leaving from San Diego to work for SMOE? I thought maybe we could connect on this end and help each other out!
Also, anyone have recommendations as far as where to stay if we plan on arriving a few days early to recover from jet lag? Any advice in preparation of leaving to Seoul would be appreciated as I only got hired today and will be leaving in less than two weeks! : ) |

Hey. I'm sure if you tell your school that you are coming early they could let you in early-I guess, unless the person who you are replacing is still there!
Advice on what to bring?: Deodorant and toothpaste for a year: difficult to find/expensive.
What to do before leaving? Learn hello, thank you, delicious (they are very proud of their food here-and giving it to you!) and good bye in Korean.
Practice the chopsticks if you're a bit rusty.
I am from NZ, so afraid I'm not even close to having a San Diego accent, but give me a shout if you want to be shown about a bit/get ideas/advice. I am in Cheolsan, Gwang Myeong (Cheolsan Station is my closest station)
Good luck and safe travels!

I'm from SD and have already been here for a year.
Actually I have no interest in meeting you but I just wanted to say that you will meet plenty of people at orientation, so don't worry about meeting folks or making friends.
Do you have to purchase your own ticket? If SMOE is fronting the bill, then you might as well come on the day they buy it for. There is no reason to come early. There will be plenty of drunken weekends for you in the near future.
