I wonder if anyone else out there who has a KEB internet banking account had major problems getting the program set up? ..When you first go into the site to log in, it requires that you download their security software to utilize the site. No big thing, but the programs seem to have used up a major portion of storage on my laptop! Then, after I entered in the info required, I kept getting bounced out.. So, I called the tech support line for help, but it took over an hour to get it all sorted out. The technician said that many "western" computers have programs on them that interfere/block the process of setting up your account.. things as simple as the Yahoo or Google toolbars, certain virus programs, etc. I think we had to retry entering the information about 6-7 different times because of some programs on my computer that were creating problems. Anyway, we did get it set up, but it was a lot of work... I would NEVER have been able to figure it out with the technician's help.. who BTW was GREAT and patient. So, I'm worried that I'll have trouble with it later on when trying to access my account from outside Korea. Anyone else have this problem? Thanks I'd just like to hear others' experience because I'll be leaving Korea soon, but my won's staying here for a while awaiting a better exchange rate..

I have also not been able to open an account at KEB or IBK (can't remember which). And I'm working on a Korean computer!

If you use IE and install all the programs it makes you download (active x stuffs, nprotect, ecertificate stuff, xecure, etc) it should all work pretty smoothly. Just never install the 7.2 version of Xecure if any website wants you to do it. The internet banking from KEB will only work with the 5.4 version. It'll give you errors if you install a different version. I don't really know why.

Edit: so I just tried to install the 7.2 version just to confirm once more.. screwed it all up XD I ended up having to uninstall xecureweb from program files, from objects in settings (temp internet files) and follow troubleshooting directions. Restarted a few times and made sure it was all gone (deleted certain files and folders in windows explorer). Then went straight to http://eib.keb.co.kr/ and let everything reinstall again on its own. The version it said it was control version 7.0.5.0 though (xecureweb clientsm 4.0.0.4). It got stuck reinstalling nprotect (I uninstalled this too just in case), but closing the window and reopening it to the eib page worked. Able to log on again Smile Lesson learned, to keep it working, never install any other version of Xecure lol. I remember the last time I did that a few months ago, I ended up doing a system restore because I was too lazy to figure out what all needed to be removed completely.

Oh, and the reason those toolbars may be interferring is that they also have their own blockers integrated into them (stops ads, pop ups, spam, etc). You should set keb's website in the trusted sites directly in IE and turn off any toolbars/pop up blockers if you ever need to reinstall things from KEB ever again.

I have been using the Internet KEB for over a year without any problems

Getting it going was a bit of a pickle, but once it was set up no more issues.

Although I am forced to use IE for it.

It wasn't that difficult for me to set up on my own. It did take some time. I haven't had any issues since that day.

I tried to set it up but kept having problems. Called their expat banking number and she told me there's a problem with my security card and I had to come into the branch.

Came into the branch and they told me there's nothing wrong with my card. We try to set it up together on a computer, didn't work..she blamed my USB. I had 3 different USBs with me and none worked...and she blamed all 3. I told her I tried installing the certificate on my laptop and TWO other desktops and it still wouldn't work so I knew it wasn't the USB problem. Again, she said its my USB....

Frustrated, I closed my account and left. I feel like their "expat" banking really isn't up to par. They may speak English, but I think their customer service is horrible. I had to call their expat banking cs several times on other issues and wasn't satisfied at all. Going back to Nonghyup who may not speak English, but has always had excellent CS.

Which branch/city? I'm guessing the CS may vary from branch to branch, teller to teller?

I know this isn't likely, but is it possible to do internet banking with firefox?

Over the last few years, I've tried to avoid using internet explorer as much as possible.

No, it is impossible in my experience. This is true of many Korean websites. I hate it myself, but I have to use it here.

How can you manage your accounts, handle banking by internet, if you are on an Apple computer running Safari or Firefox. I apologize too if I sound techy ignorant but I'm at a loss! I plan to keep my money in KEB for awhile; no rush to open a US account even though I'm not returning to Korea.

Thanks for any help!

Ok. And as IE for Mac is now defunct I'll have to download the KEB certificate onto my USB then use someone else's computer when I get to the US. Not great!
