I must not be asking correctly, but when I went to e-mart and asked for bed sheets(most of bedding colors were flowers) the sales associate pointed only to one sheet, as if they only sell the bed sheet not the cover sheet. I would appreciate it if someone can help me. Confused Confused Confused

well there's two types that they sell.

one is mattress cover. Just say as in english they'll understand that only cover the mattress. Or if you want to cover the whole bed then 침대 "cheem dae" cover.

Also if you look around the area where you live, you should be able to find a place that sells pillows and blankets. They'll sell any items individually.

I have yet to find bed sheets in Korea, let me know where you find them-- provided they don't cost more than my bed.

Homeplus (TESCO) socks a decent variety. It took me a while to find them. I think they were around 20-30K for Queen size. There was some English on the packaging.

I found some at the Galleria in Cheonan, part of a set w. pillowcase and comforter. For a twin bed, it was just short of 200K won. I'll hold off until my upcoming trip to Guam.

its common to use only a fitted sheet with only a comforter and not use a regular non-fitted sheet. you should def. be able to find dozes in e-mart, but the may be girly pastel flower patterns.

I was thinking of going the Korean bedding route when I get to Korea, as it will be easier to transport when I move. When I've slept on the floor at yeogwan (motels) I've piled up a few of the mattresses (yo) for more padding. I like Japanese futons, but Korean bedding often doesn't seem to be quite as comfortable. Can anyone recommend places to buy comfortable Korean bedding for the long-term?

We currently have sheets on our bed, but to be honest, I prefer the Korean style of things. It's just easier for me to wash all of the bedding like Koreans do. I lived that way for 6 years. We switched to sheets so we could use this fancy blanket thingie, but I sure miss the old style...

Does anyone know the standard size for the beds provided by schools in their "fully furnished" apt? Twin or queen?

Perhaps I'll just take a set when I depart to spare having to hunt for it, and have the ones I find be of the floral variety. Smile

It depends on your school, but many apartments have something called a supersingle, which is somewhere between a twin and a double. Unfortunately, I don't think twin or double sheets fit these.

wow... u people cant find bed sheets?

it might be a little hard to find, but if u learn the secret codes and handshakes, u can gain access to this magical and mysterious place called....... the store. it can go by several names (home plus, lotte mart, hyundai department store, shinsaegae department store, emart) but once ur inside, all there can be had!.. provided u brought money and/or a credit card. walk around the area where u see pillows and stuff and look closely, because inanimate objects have the odd habit of NOT jumping out and slapping u on the face like they do back home (i know. crazy, huh?)... now, im assuming u have the basic intelligence required to find a picture of what u want, look the package over to see if it contains what u desire, or, as a last resort, read the english that is often printed on the label. should u follow these easy steps, its possible to acquire a full set of bed sheets, new pillows, a mattress pad, and pillow cases without ever asking a store clerk for help.. and then having them look at u strange because in their country they dont speak ur language and watching u get frustrated because u have yet to realize this fact.

best of luck to u. and if u ever get confused or lost during the process, its best to just drop to the ground, roll into a fetal positions, close ur eyes tight, and just whisper allowed to urself "theres no place like home, theres no place like home, theres no place like home"... i think u then click ur heals, turn around 3 times and spit or curse or spit and curse, and ur supposed to just zap right back to ur parents house. easy peasy / jap-an-easy
