They did mutiliate the Baronness to keep with this crappy plotline they made, but all and all guns were fired, explosions were had, and there was a great underwater battle! I don't think I remember ever seeing an underwater station battle take place on present day (or near future day) earth before. I don't mean on the station, Bond's done that a few times. I mean- well, see the movie see if it reminds you of anything. Oh, two references to people not being able to kill women was pretty annoying, especially when there were super elite women soldiers standing in earshot- how offensive! And I detect a weird conservative agenda in hollywood flicks- don't trust your president, Americans, he's in league with the terrorists! Good luck with that!! |

Yeah, I didn't get the whole Baroness thing. Wasn't she Russian or something? And did she ever have some sort of back story with a G.I. Joe? I didn't like that.
I was a little worried that my all time favorite character (Storm Shadow) died, but I really doubt they'd kill him off in the first movie.
Honestly, my favorite part of the whole movie was when the "Dr." turned into Cobra Commander and he said it's time for Cobra to rise.....and you saw the Cobra logo on the side of their submarine. I was like, "Awww Yeahhh!"
I've always loved Cobra. I hate those G.I. Joe fux! Yeah, I'm a nerd for G.I. Joe like people for Harry Potter. But, that's OK. COBRAAA! haha!
Oh yeah, and to respond to your thing about the not killing women...Storm Shadow has always had 'principles,' even though he was with Cobra. He's a bad MF! |

It's a hollywood summer blockbuster based on some of my fondest childhood memories, they were definitely going to come up short, and they did better than I thought they would. Coming from a super nerd like me that's glowing praise.
Oh, and you might not have heard it, but the music during the movie had a little piece of the theme music in it, but not all of it. They just played the "a real american hero..." part, but didn't finish up with the "gi joe is there" part. I thought it was cool, and I am hoping during the next movie they have the whole thing.
You do see cobra's face in one of the animated movies, and it is all snakey. I wish they did something like use the dna of a snake to heal the guy's face. I also don't think he should have had anything to do with duke, either.
Oh, storm shadow is waaay fine (as in he survived, not I want his sweet ninja behind fine). What I would like is if he ended up having to fight Jinx (who was a small name second gen. character, but I still liked her because she was a ninja)- it'd be sort of boring for him to get killed by snake eyes every movie. Think maybe he didn't kill his master after all and the terrorist organization which is now led by cobra set him up? Why not, they don't seem to mind turning bad guys into good guys with issues.
Next flick- think there will be a Serpentor? |

Yeah, I didn't like CC's mask at the end. Hopefully he eventually gets the cloth covering that fits him best. I don't think Storm Shadow's dead. He fell in ice. I'm sure he'll be recovered and brought back at the beginning of #2. That's my favorite character. He seems to be sort of a cult favorite, if you can call him that, for GI Joe characters. No way he dies in #1.
In original GI Joe, Storm Shadow didn't kill his master (Zartan did). Storm Shadow did cut the throat of Snake Eyes, which is why he couldn't talk. Not some vow of silence.
I was thinking the same thing about Serpentor, since they have Dr. Mindbender in there.
Here's my thoughts for the ending of #2. You get the regular climax to the movie and there's some crazy twist, and screen shows CC and Dr. Mindbender in some laboratory and Serpentor is being created or something like that. |

Who is seriously too busy that they can't spare a little time for frivolous thought?
As an occasional child hood watcher of G.I. Joe, I don't plan on seeing this movie, for the same reason I opted against Transformers: actually paying people money to exploit fondly remembered childhood experiences is something I'm reticent to indulge in.
That said, if they were to make a Thundercats movie, I'd watch it. |

The producers have said they won't have the cloth mask because it resembles a Klan hood. |

SPOILER ----
The one thing that really bothered me effects-wise was when they 'blew the ice-cap', and then the ice came crashing down on the base. ICE FLOATS YOU SCIENCE GENIUSES! That is all. |
