Ok So my friend has criminal record check that is printed in black in white...not color as requested by the website...I had been hoping that we could just go to the Korean Embassy in Seoul (but am only finding embassy's for other countries in seoul so is there no general location all foreigners can go to? ) and just do a similar thing like Canadians do where they take it in and get it stamped...
I am just hoping there is a New Zealander out there that has already gone through this and found a way around all the nonesense or do we really need to get the form reprinted in color and then get it apostilled in wellington....we were hoping to get a couple position in the next week or so and this could really through a wrench into things....

There is no way around the nonsense. The new rules ahve been in place for nearly 2 years now.
Your friend will have to get the correct police check issued in NZ and then get it notarized by a notary public in NZ and then get it Apostilled in NZ.
Do you understand what an Apostille involves A country can only Apostille its own citizens papers.
How old is the black and white police check? If it is more than 6 months old it will not be accepted by immigration. If it is a photocopy it will not be accepted .
If this is your friends first visa to Korea then he/she will have to get an interview at the Korean embassy in NZ before arriving in Korea.
Where are you now? NZ or Korea? |

Blonde is right. They have new rules in place. Why is your friend in Seoul? Just visiting? They've had a lot of problems with illegals and such so they are making harder rules. Many suffer for the few. 
But anyway, you need an official CBC, not a copy of it. Most of the time you can do these things by mail, or even have someone else do it for you. But unless you work at a NOA school like SMOE, your friend will have to have an interview in NZ. |

Hey guys thanks for the input (there is a reason I asked for kiwi input)...His criminal record check is legit and he only got it a month ago...NZ just happens not to print them in color unless you specifically ask for it apparently...he has taught in korea for the last 5 years and never had an issue. I was just worried with all the new changes in place...But after calling immi and the NZ embassy in Seoul apparently he is allowed to just sign a paper like Canadians and it will be accepted. So we are off to do that on Monday  |

This is Korea. Thus, there is no Korean Embassy. If you need a Korean Embassy for any reason, you must go to another country (e.g., Japan). |

Please let us know if the police check gets accepted in immigration with just him signing it and with no Apostille on it . I assume you mean an affidavit he is signing?
The reply he got phoning the NZ embassy and immigration seems strange as it is only Canadians who get a different process and no Apostille. |

Does the NZ police check (criminal convictions record check) have to be notarised (by a notary public) ?????
Last year, I just got the CRC letter and posted it straight to the apostille place. I didn't get it notarised. No visa problems for me.
I'd like to know as I'm going to reapply for a new visa (with new docs) in Jan).
Any info appreciated. |

The people who give you your CBC are the ones who notarize it. You only have to find a seperate notary for you diploma copy and such. So, just like you did last year, take your CBC and apostille it. |

Not in NZ, when applying for your CRC you need to tell them to send it on to the apostillers (sp.?), this also means that the CRC is free and you only have to pay for the apostille. |
