It's like trying to pin witch burnings on the Pope.

This part of your post just leapt out at me.

The witch-burnings of early-modern Europe were the direct result of an inflammatory book titled Malleus Maleficarum. It was the official text of witch-hunters of Europe and America throughout the 16th and 17th century, and it was published with the backing of a papal charter that gave permission to the Inquisition to search out and destroy accused witches. Before this decree and the publication of this book, punishments for witchcraft were comparatively mild and generally fell short of execution. In fact, until the 13th century, it was a heresy to even believe in the existence of witchcraft.

To pin responsibility on the Pope for witch-burnings would be not only entirely justifiable - one would be remiss to not do so.

Thank you for bringing up a perfect example of how violence against women can be, and often is, the direct result of instigation by religious authority.

Jordan woman killed for marrying without permission

Police added that the woman's brothers "agreed to kill her in revenge."

Murder is punishable by the death penalty in Jordan, but in the case of so-called "honour killings," a court usually commutes or reduces sentences.....

Around 15-20 women are murdered each year in Jordan in the name of honour, despite government efforts to fight such crimes. Parliament has refused to reform the penal code to ensure harsher penalties
.

So, if 20 women are murdered each year in honor killings, Jordan has an honor killings rate of 0.32 per 100,000. Some cultures would be embarrassed to have a pickpocket rate that high. Jordanians, Syrians and Pakistanis, however, cannot kill their own sisters and daughters quickly enough.

The Muslim World produces a grand total of 5,000 honor killings per year. Pakistan alone produces 1,000. And this of course is only the tip of the iceberg. 5,000 honor killings / 1.4bn Muslims x 100,000 = 0.35

Might not sound a lot, but it's as high as general homicide rates in Singapore and Hong Kong. If you don't - as leftist Islamophiles inevitably won't - appreciate the distinction between homicide rate and honor killings rate then you are beyond help, but otherwise it's a horrifying situation

Does anybody outside of the various grievance lobbies actually take 'respect' seriously anymore? I think it has become a joke.
