So the vibe there is kind of like trying to avoid gang rape in the shower block?

I know that a lot of people will not agree with me, but I would have to list the Wolfhound Pub.

The owner is very unprofessional and, in my experience, the workers sometimes do not record payment for orders and try to make you pay again (not trying to cheat, but not following through on recording things on the computer). Yeah, it is a fun place, if the owner doesn't make feel like a criminal in front of your friends because his staff didn't process the payment correctly.

In fairness, the owner apologized but I will never go there again and I am committed to telling others not to go there either.

Helios. Gecko's is pretty bad, but on occasion, I can find a table. Helios is like subway line 2 during rush hour but ten times as bad. Instead of standing uncomfortably close to 5 ajeoshis, I'm standing uncomfortably close to ten people dryhumping.

@seonsengnimble

ㅎㅎㅎ
Sorry, I'm one of those 10.

Helios is the only reason I go to Itaewon, and that is once a week at best.

I would say just about any restaurant there. The food can be good sometimes but that $h1t is way to expensive compared to what I can get back in the states. I have a rule to not pay more for what I feel food is worth. Just because it's foreign food doesn't mean they can apply the exchange rate to the price. It was made in Korea, not imported.

The Trans-Rose....I just thought they were ugly girls..But once I went to the back room with one LOOKOUT...I didn't even get a reach around.

But seriously...I only go to Bless U, and sometimes Nashville. Good places. 3 Alley is to crowded the few times I've been there.

Gecko's: too crowded and full of army...but it is a nice bar and I'm ex army so I don't mind too much...just too damned crowded.

3 Alleys: rude arse that runs the joint. I had a case of the squirts and ran in and asked if I could use the loo...he asked if I was going to drink...told him I was riding (had my motorcycle helmet in hand) and he gave me a lecture about it costing him money and that I should flag off. I'm about to spray my pants and I'm practically begging. I tell him I drink here often...he says ...how do I know? I say, "You can trust me or I'm going to crap my pants." Never gone back since.

Nashvilles, Seoul pub, Rocky Mountain, Polly's Kettle house, the entire hill is one festering turd. But having said all this, I like festering turds from time to time. They have character. Itaewon is a lowly yet fun little place with some very cool trendy joints tucked in. Cool places to hang.

I gotta say UN Club is probably the worst place in Itaewon, IMO. I was there with some friends last night and it was the first time I've ever seen a non-military strapped. The security guard walked up to the bar with a bullet proof vest and pistol.

Edit: I now remember I read somewhere those pistols are actually just guns filled with pepper spray. Can anyone verify this?

Well, Itaewon and TJ both have urban legends apparently.

I went there recently for their Fish and Chips. While it was good, it wasn't IRISH Fish and Chips.
It was kind-of gourmet fried fish and chips.
And I don't enjoy the music they play. They put on one album and let it play through.

I would have to add to the forum in general that I would avoid idiots at any pub, anywhere. This generally refers to jocks.

It is in Tijuana. I've been down there dozens upon dozens of times. It has even become a running joke among touts. The only "donkey show" are the photos you can take with so-called donkey-zebras.

I can't speak for other Mexican border towns or cities.

http://wikitravel.org/en/Tijuana

"Donkey shows - Tijuana got rid of the infamous donkey shows decades ago, which is a sexual performance involving women and animals. This was part of Tijuana's attempt to clean up its image. To see a donkey show, you will have to go to a Texas border town. In Tijuana, many of the nude show establishments have some rather seedy shows, but you will certainly never walk into one of them to see any shows involving women and animals of any kind. Occasionally, strip club hecklers will attempt to lure you into their establishment by claiming a donkey show, but today there is no donkey show in Tijuana. The donkey died several years ago."
