South Korea's Y.E. Yang is the 1st Asian to win a major men's golfing tournament. Today he was better than Tiger Woods. Question: Is there an odd number of exceptionally drunk Koreans in the streets in the early afternoon today? The tournament was from 5-8 am KST or so this morning. I have to admit he played amazing and I was rooting for him (the underdog). He held a lead over the best in the world and made some amazing shots showing composure and guts to win it. Way to go Yangster!

It was a great performance. To enter a final pairing with Tiger Woods a couple of strokes down and win is pretty amazing. Tiger wasn't at his best today but I think Y.E. Yang's performance had something to do with it.

Silly thread title. Are you trying to get the Korean-bashers riled up?

He played a great round 4. And even better 3. Great thing was he acted like he had been there before, didn't get too excited. I feel like Koreans, in general, whenever they do something slightly well, they talk it up like they put a man on Mars.

He did get a LOT of help from Tiger's crappy putting, though. Wink

He shot -2 on Sunday which was tied for best round of the day. To do it in the final pairing with Tiger for a major is really an accomplishment. He went into 18 with a one stroke lead over Tiger and still made birdie. Now we'll get to see if he's a one hit wonder or if he can put together a few more wins on Tour.

This was a Major, so he'll have a 4 year exemption. That'll give him big sponsorships and many more chances to win.

Tiger is also Asian. Well, he is half Asian anyways. His mother is from Thailand.

Yeah Tiger is half Asian but he is an American. Also Y. E. won the Honda Classic earlier this year proving he is not a 1 hit wonder. He just went from being ranked 110th to 7th in the PGA standings with his 2nd victory this year, it being his 1st major. Last year he made $450 thousand something and now he is at over $3 million on the year.

He gave his press conference in Korean, so all that the English world heard was a translator. Sad. The guy's been a pro for 3 years on the PGA tour and can't give a press conference in English, for a major no less? ESPN didn't even identify him as a Korean, only as an "Asian".

Why is it sad? Is there a rule saying English is the official language of golf? Golf isn't exactly a "team sport" where you need to communicate.
