Hey guys,

which out of the 2 is the smoothest for sending money home through the bank machine in Korea to a home bank's checking account in Canada?

Any good / bad stories about the process with either one?
I have an account at each thx

It is dead easy to do it online with KEB. I don't have experience doing it with the ATM.

I'd say that KEB is better for any/every kind of transfer.

Their internet banking is super efficient and easy to use, I transfer money home every month and have never had any problems at all. I've transferred once with a KEB bank machine and again, no problem at all.

To set up your transfer account, you'll need your home bank information including the address.

Does anyone know how much the fee is from the Korean bank for a bank machine wire transfer?

Just wanted to add to the story...

I just opened a bank account with Nonghyup. It is literally the only bank within walking distance. So in my ignorance, little did I know that my "cash" account is simply that, a place where money can get deposited, bills can be paid, and ATM withdraws (I think, i haven't actually tried it yet). Of course, later on, I found out about internet banking services being something that requires a separate application. And just today, in applying for this internet service, I found out that this doesn't include international transfers. I was told I would go to the central branch in Suwon (Gwonseon-gu) to initiate a remittance.

So, as you can imagine, I learned about the pains of banking with Nonghyup the hard way. For all I know, there probably is an easier solution to my problems, but like I sid, it is the only bank within walking distance and I don't get the opportunity to take time off during business hours to find better banking solutions.

In addition, if you are a Mac user like myself, you need a copy of Windows XP or Vista to get access to their website - as their Internet banking services only works with I.E. - and be prepared for having to download a bunch of security certificate crap.

I don't have my bank books with me, but it's a reasonable amount. I think someone else posted the fee schedule in another thread.
