Enough "oasis" to pull off a widow's peak? You could go for an exaggerated Bela-Lugosi-as-Dracula look...
On a less serious note, how about the Art Garfunkel look? |

| I haven't had a haircut in 4 years, and I couldn't be happier. My hair is down to my ass. When I was in Korea, my hair was really long, and contrary to thought here on this board, most Koreans seemed cool with it - only one guy on the street yelling at me, many women eager to hook up. |
try pulling off that look when you you have complete desertification of the front part of your melon except for a little mohawkish tuft of oasis down the front centre.
Not sure if ass-length (the length of my donkey???- i assume you mean arse) hair in the remaining bits really helps... unless of course its all piled up afghan/indian-turban style... Now THAT would work...is that still technically called a comb-over?
Not sure if i'd want ass/donkey/arse-length hair anyway..... I would worry the ends would get dirty as i drag my bottom over the carpet to get rid of worms... |
Look, you can work around it. I have coworkers who have done a great job with it. First, don't think facial hair will hide baldness. Do not grow a beard (until your facial hair turns grey/white, then a short and closely cropped beard will work). Second, shave the head tight but not complete, keep your face closely shaved and ensure your attire is proper fitting (aka tight) and ironed. Do not be fat+bald. That's a dead end. If you're bald, a t-shirt can no longer be worn outside of the gym. Or sandals/shorts. Just deal with it. Button down and slacks. It is a clean look that baldies can pull off. Denim should be avoided. You can look sophisticated in your natural, baldass self. Don't whine about haircuts depressing you. Take what you got and work with it. Appearance is very important. |
why the hell not?? |

Puh-lease. A few words: Andre Agassi, Bruce Willis, Vin Diesel, Kelly Slater, Seal, Patrick Stewart, Michael Chiklis, Shaquille O'Neal, Homer Simpson... The list goes on. There are plenty of good looking baldies out there. And for the most part, they can wear anything they want (*WITH the exception of our overly chubby and/or overly tattooed friends).
Happy balding! |

getting my haircut is always a great source of anxiety for me regardless of who cuts my hair.
i'm ALWAYS convinced that they cut my hair lopsided. there was one woman in college who used to be able to cut my hair and i never thought one side was loner than the other but she's the only one. everyone else i was sure had cut it wrong even if it looked fine afterwords.
i also usually find after a haircut my moods will swing a lot for the next couple of days as i decide i like the cut for a few hours and then decide i hate it for a few hours. its a little nutty i know, but its just the way i am.
luckily my hair is pretty curly so i've just found if i keep it curly for the next couple days after i cut it i don't focus on the idea my hair is uneven as much. can you just wear a hat and not think about your new cut for the first couple of days? |

It's really.... hard, to be depressed in a Korea barber shop.
I usually just cut my own hair. It's very easy. Learning how to give a decent haircut is much, much easier than you would think. |
Totally. Get out the clippers! |

Because t-shirts are youthful and being bald makes you look older. If you're old looking and wearing a t-shirt you'll look like an optical illusion. |

Im so lonely but thats okay, I shaved my head ...
And Im not sad....
Ha ha
Look I gave up the ghost a few months back. Rest of head was fine but the front had been reduced to what I fondly described as my 'landing strip...' Saw myself in a photo and realised that it was obvious and looked silly so now I have a grade 0.5 and I love it
Forget all this bs about can't wear t-shorts etc, it's bollox. I've been laid twice since I shaved it all off, everyone says it looks great and suits me...
I takes a week or so to get used to as it's quite an extreme change and your Korean students might make a bit of a production at first (mine now come up to me and want to rub the stubble, they're fascinated by it...) but as Mimis pointed out loads of famous and talented people sport the look and they're not doing too badly in life...! |

Yeah, i agree...it does suit some people... and for those who suggest getting buff and fashionable all all that... good advice if that suits your personality type.
I'm fit...well, relatively..... not as much as when i used to do the seakayacking on a weekly basis... Not exactly some pencil neck weakling. But I'm also not really into the 'mean bastard' look desired by sporting people, police army and so on.
I've done the buzz cut thing and it looked horrible. Criminal, neo-nazi...pub brawler football hooligan....which is about as opposite from me as possible. Not saying everybody who has this cut looks like this. But I do....
Longish scraggly hair suits my 'cartoonist/ scientist' image i have of myself......... the buzz definitely doesn't.
Its not vanity... I just hate looking into the mirror and seeing somebody i'm not. |

Then there's just one option left, my penguin friend - a HAIRPIECE
...Well, that or laser treatment, but it sure looks awfully painful |

This is not just in Korea, but everywhere. It triggers my anxiety and really makes me feel uncomfortable. I usually have a beer, bite the bullet, and just go. I know it is strange, but it has always been that way for me. |
I hear you. There's something weird about having small talk with someone who is digging through your hair, noticing any piece of dandruff, bit of earwax or random zit on your scalp while they clutch your head in their hands, and there are 50 different angles because of all of the mirrors.
It sometimes feels like my head is being raped both literally and figuratively. |

thats pretty much the nail on the head. so to speak. I've always been a bit phobic of people invading my personal space... and having some random stranger poking and prodding and whatever else...its worse than a dentist.
Especially in korea when they fuss over my hairy ears in astonishment. Yes, for the love of god....i have freaking furry ears!!! get over it!!! |
