I doubt it's the nicest in Seoul, but the location was good, and I had no problems in my few months there. 570,000won a month, but you might get a discount if you stay multiple months...

I saw one in Cheongdam that was like 700,000 a month...but I still don't think it has a kitchen in the room...I'm not sure. There is one way over in Kkachisan that does have a kitchen though for about 500,000 a month. How can someone live in one of these boxes for a year? No wonder some Koreans never go home except to sleep. They love their shoe boxes here, I guess. And yes, not all, but some people actually LIVE in these places.

That place looks OK, except the shower is right around the corner from the bed and there is no door??? They have some weird set-ups here...Interesting, but weird. I am wondering if that kitchen is in the room. It looks like it may be, but they are probably trying to trick you. I bet it's not in the room.

If rent is not an issue why even stay at a Goshiwon? You could sublet from someone or even do extended stay hotels.

Exactly. I once was looking at "top-end" goshiwons. Looked at a bunch of websites and visited ones that seemed to look clean.

The truth of the matter is, a goshiwon is a goshiwon. Even the expensive ones were downright disgusting.

If rent is not an issue, why are you looking at goshiwons anyway?

Rent is not an issue but key money is.
I haven't heard of furnished studio apartments or the like that we can rent without key money. Have you?

I think Goshiwons are all pretty similar, size & facility-wise. In my experience, price will only be contingent on window/no-window, shower/no-shower.

Rooms are all about 1 pyung.

I stayed in an adequate goshiwon in Sinchon for 400,000 per month for a room with a window and a shower. "Easy Pine House" (Google it in hangul).

If you are happy to pay a lot of rent, there is another option called "Imdae" (I think) (short term with little or no deposit).

Anyway there are a few English/ Chinese-speaking real estate agents in Sinchon (on the same road as Sinchon Church).

The place I stayed in has sink and shower in the room, but a shared kitchen with rice, kimchi and ramyeon for free as well as coffee and a water machine. Rooms without the bathroom are cheaper. Internet is also free and TV can be connected if you want, TV/Monitor provided.

There is a laundry room with washing powder included, and cleaning stuff you can use. It has fire extinguishers and electronic door locks, so it's safe and secure.

The don't speak any English, but if you bring someone to help you out in the beginning you shouldn't have any hassles for the rest of your stay.
