Hey everyone,

I'm wondering about the cost of buying an SLR camera while in Korea. I've thought about buying it here and taking it over, but I don't want to damage it in the process or risk losing it. I have also looked at the sticky about digital cameras but I don't really want to search through six years of posts (they were talking about printing pictures from a 2 - 3 megapixel camera)

Any advice would be great.

I got my Nikon D60 for around 650,000 if I remember correctly.

Do a google search in the forums to read through some old threads.

Namdaemun is where you would want to go. While the D60 is a nice camera, it's currently outdated when compared to the newer offerings by Cannon and Nikon.

check out the buying guides at www.cameralabs.com or www.dpreview.com

If I could buy one DSLR right now, I'd choose the Canon EOS 50D. With a decent lens, that price could run upwards into 2 million won.

Technology may get "outdated", but you never hear about images taken with Gen 1 cameras getting called "outdated." You should be able to pick up a decent deal on Gen 1 Nikon DSLRs.

While true, with the latest models you get other 'nice-it-ies', such as automatic sensor dust reduction/cleaning, live view, higher ISO, among other features I now take for granted.

The end product is near the same under the right conditions though.
