I'd like to get the internet at home. My co teacher called LG Power (who is constantly leaving fliers on my door and has a good deal) who said that they won't give me the internet because I'm a foreigner.

Question

1. In the Suwon area, who do you use for the internet at home?

2. Even though it will probably do no good, who should I complain to about this? I know it's illegal (but so is prostitution) so I don't want to remain silent about it.

I think the Seoul Global Center deals with complaints, and they might be able to assist you if you want to make an official complaint.

Here we go again, someone who wants to "report" the bad Korean company/person/department etc.
Report to who? and even if you find someone, they don't care.

The last time I heard "I'm going to report you" was when I was 10.

I understand you OP. This is an issue of customer rights. Does Korea have a Better Business Bureau?

We aren't asking to be treated like citizens (which Koreans often remind us by addressing us as 'foreigners' and applying double standards, which at times may work in our favour); but asking for service is a reasonable request. This situation can be compared to walking into a restaurant and being refused service, which, may I add, isn't unheard of here either.

The Seoul Global Center is equipped with a lawyer, who could give you advice on how to proceed with your complaint.

Discrimination may be "illegal" elsewhere, but it isn't here. If it isn't here, then guess what, its not illegal.
As for customer "rights", since when did any bill of rights have provision for internet service?
You have a "right" to vote with your money, its that simple.

Article 10 of the Korean Act on the Treatment of Foreigners
National, municipal. and local governments shall make efforts such as conducting educational programs public communication activities and whatever activities proper and necessary to prevent unreasonable discrimination against foreigners in Korea...

If you feel that refusing to provide a service to someone because they are foreign is reasonable... In any case, your input has been noted, thanks.

Earthbound - I had my co teacher call for me. She doesn't know a lot of what to do as I'm her first NET, but we're both figuring it out together. They asked me when I first came 2 years back if I wanted internet, but I said no, so we're doing this on the fly now.

Anyway, I called KT Megapass as poeticjustice suggested and they said no problem and had a deal comparable to LGPower. Good times.

porn is illegal here? then how is that they have porn channels? i haven't seen them personally (seriously lol), but i've been told every motel has load at least 2-3 channels of pr0n and when i was in the hospital i recall waking up and seeing that my "roommate" was watching some hentai-ish pr0n on the hospital provided cable.
