I just bought a new guitar at the Nagwon Music Arcade. I did not want anything expensive like a Taylor, Guild or Martin, so I bought a Cort/
Cort Earth-100BODY STYLE: Dreadnought
CONSTRUCTION: Dovetail Neck Joint
TOP: Solid Spruce
BACK: Quilted Bubinga
SIDES: Quilted Bubinga
NECK: Mahogany
TRUSS ROD: Adjustable 2-way
FINGERBOARD: Rosewood
INLAY: White Dot
TUNERS: Die-cast w/ Black Knobs
It was 240,000 and they threw in the case, tuner, extra set of strings, strap, capo and picks
It sounds great, rich uniformed sounds and great resonance. I was surprised. The frets are set quite high.
I have one question "humidity" I don't have an aircon and I am afraid of the guitar swelling. If I use silicone packs, or those smaller hippopotamus things and keep it in the guitar and the guitar in the case, will this prevent damage?
Those of you who do have aircon; do you keep it on all the time? |

The most ideal level of humidity for an acoustic guitar is between 45-60% humidity. You have a solid top - a living breathing object - and you need to take care of it. For the wintertime, it gets very dry in Korea. A small humidifier would be a nice investment. If it's true dry, it can possibly crack the wood. Keeping it in a case is no guarantee.
BTW, you got a nice deal for the Earth 100 ~ if it came with a pick-up, that is.
Cheers! |

I have the same guitar. Guy gave me everything but the tuner for 200K in Nagwon Arcade /brag
I had some problems with humidity and the top swelling recently, causing the neck to bow a little and the action to rise. But I corrected it pretty easily with a quarter turn of the truss rod. From what I've read, high humidity isn't as much of a problem as the low humidity in the winter, so I just leave it in the case. |

Cort have had difficulty with necks corkscrewing and making action /intonation on the fretboard difficult to deal with. Winter dryness is the main hassle. |

Been looking for a Gibson Flying V while in country...my search has proved fruitless as of late. The V would really complete my collection and give me that edge that a swing or cort can't do. Anyone have any ideas? |

I'll take a look at the music store right next to my apartment tomorrow. I'm pretty sure I would recall a V but I'll make sure, they get new stuff all the time. |

Keep your guitar in a decent case when not in use and you should be fine.
When I arrive in Seoul next week I plan on buying a 100% laminate guitar. I like the "boxy" sound, believe it or not Plus they're cheap. |

Yeah but its got to be a gibson....I had an epiphone when I was younger...its not the same thing. Although a jackson V would be fine as well. If you or anyone see a V around..let me know bro. |

I keep my guitar case open. I don't know if that significantly helps or not. It stays in tune and I don't see any warping. |
