I will be coming to Korea soon and flying Asiana from the U.S. (west coast). I will have two suitcases, one of which is ginormous. I am worried that this may also make it heavy. It seems that overweight/oversize baggage fees will still be cheaper than shipping to Korea, though. I won't have excess baggage, but I am quite sure the dimensions are over 158 cm, or whatever the limit is. I am trying to figure out WHAT the fees would be for this so I'm not surprised. Or does oversize bags not matter as much as overweight bags?

It doesn't say on the website what the fee is:

Maybe you should call them.

I will also be flying Asiana from SFO -> Incheon. I was told by my travel agent that I can check in 2 suitcases as long as they are under 50 lbs each. She said there is about a $100 fine for overweight baggage. I can only bring one carryon item with me on the plane.

I weighed my suitcase empty, and it weighed 11 pounds. not wanting to waste that weight, I went and got 2 army duffle bags. One of them was a couple pounds over, but they didn't charge me. For carry-on luggage, I had a backpack and an oversized purse. It was all fine.

For carry-on luggage, many airlines will allow one carry-on bag, plus a laptop. I also carry with me a front pack and camera case and have never been challenged (on both NW and KoreanAir). I have seen others bring a lot more than that (the jerkiest I saw was a family of four that brought two carry-ons+ each, along with the daughter's violin--they took up the overhead baggage space for most of a section and were never called on it even though people complained). At the same time, a few years ago, KoreanAir (at Gimpo) made me shuffle things between my carry-on and my son's when mine was an ounce overweight...
