I've heard, from the reviews, that it's a truly original, well-executed, cult film out of the egg just hatched and I really look forward to it tomorrow or the next day.

great little movie- aliens, explosions, gore and even a robot- but with brains and without merchandising tie ins- yay! That early scene where Wikus first enters the district kind of put me off popcorn though...

It really goes to show how decent the movie industry could be if, instead of relying on high budgets and celebrities, it focused on interesting ideas.

I especially liked the main character. He had an awkwardness, humor, and combination of selfishness and decency to him that gave him a certain reality.

just watched it on my computer. It's a really well done movie in terms of special effects. Everything was pretty believable except the part when wikus and the alien go to retrieve that liquid with just 2 alien rifles. That was pretty unrealistic. Then again, if you analyze everything like that I'm sure there are 20 different holes in the film like how aliens would sell their uber powerful weapons for food...

I personally hated the main character so much from the get go I was wishing he'd die but he didn't. I guess he did get some poetic justice so I shouldn't be that unsatisfied.

I quite enjoyed the movie. Definitely a different take on the alien encounter theme; humans oppressing aliens instead of them kicking the crap out of us. A nice change of pace. Smile

Personally I felt sympathetic for the main character, he was just an average guy trying to do his job.

What I didn't get is why Earth would allow an unaccountable, profit based weapons developer to take charge of the aliens. That's just asking for trouble. You'd think it would be like some UN agency or something.

Definitely original. It also strikes a note where the ALIENS are forced to live in the slums and are treated less than human. I suppose because they are not human, but it really reminds me of... never mind.

GI:Joe on the other hand. the movie was good but i thought the acting was mediocre.

If you've got army buddies, it's playing at Yongsan next month, but IMDB doesn't have a Korean release date listed yet...

My buddy told me I should see it, so if I get near a half-decent DVD shop any time soon, will try to find.

Probably the best movie to come out of South Africa since 'The Gods Must Be Crazy'. It's more action than sci-fi, and a pretty good social commentary on apartheid, as that's what I believe the underlying message was about.
