Has anyone heard if an H1N1 shot will be available in Korea or are just the standard flu vaccinations on tap? Other countires are gearing up but I haven't heard much about what the Korean government has planned. Any info would be appreciated. |

Vaccine is not ready yet. All they have now is tamiflu which is coming out as not all that effective.
As a foreign resident in Korea you will not be on the priority vaccination list (normal) as citizens will come first.
You could get it, or try to get it, at a private foreign clinic.
This is if you want the flu shot at all....I would consider that very carefully as your age and general health are something that should clue you into if you should get the shot at all. |

The Korean government plans to offer the vaccine to 13 million people, or 27 percent of the total population by mid-November. The figure was decided at a panel meeting of the Vaccination Review Board at the Health Ministry, considering the flu spread here.

As of today, people with recent overseas experiences or links to confirmed patients have been administered with Tamiflu. But from tomorrow the administration of antiviral drugs will be recommended mainly for people with severe symptoms," Lee said.

Thanks for the info. I was more worried about my son who's 4 years old. I suppose he can't have anything next month if mass vaccinations are scheduled for November. I wanted to get something done early. Incidentally, I wonder where that leaves me. In the States, parents of young ones are to be given shots. I'm on an F5. |
