|
|
Hi everyone,
Just wondering if anyone knows of any Thai Boxing gyms in Pyeongchon or somewhere nearby. I guess the city im looking for is Anyang...
If you have any details on price or when the classes are, that would be great. I'll be busy in the afternoon to night time, so looking for somewhere I can train from maybe 10am-2pm.
Thanks everyone! |

You should consider taking BJJ classes in addition to Muay Thai. |

I did for awhile. It was fun, but I decided to focus on getting better than one than being mediocre at everyhthing. When I had to chose one, I went with MT which I liked the best...
but now I do boxing as well to tighten up my hands. But my focus is still thai boxing.
But I dont want to turn this into a MT vs BJJ thread. Theyre both great and I wish I had time for them all |

Hmm, I can't say, but it's visible from the subway when you pass that station going on the light blue line. I never went there myself, so I can't say if it's good or not. Ok, this is all I can do- when you are on the light blue line going from gunpo station towards sanbon station, facing the front of the train it is visible on the upper levels of one of the buildings on your right. I think, but it has been a while. And that has to win the award for worst internet directions ever!! You can try inputing mui thai and gunpo into the naver search engine in Hangul, and there will likely be a map forthcoming.
Oh, the Bjj class in apungjeong (i think that's the spelling) is pretty fantastic. You can shave transit time down to an hour and twenty minutes from around pyeongcheon, and it is seriously worth what you learn about ground work to make it out there a few times a week. They have a class on sundays, too.
Oh oh oh, every year there is an international martial arts festival somewhere out in the sticks in south Korea. There is an entry for it in one of the editions of the Lonely Planet South Korea guide. I forget where, but you see some cool demos and there was a mui thai tournament at the last one I was at. Go early and find a place to crash or all the motels will fill up. |

Leafs42084- did you ever check out that Muay Thai gym? if so, what were your impressions? I just arrived in Anyang yesterday and I too would love to find a place to train. |

Why? I've taken classes in both and they are two totally seperate and distinct martial arts. Which I also might add should each be the focus of study for whatever period you are practicing them. |
