Schlaffly Farmhouse Ale. Fuh!

Shocked Does that really exist?

I never believed Old Speckeled Hen existed (good beer by the way) until I saw it for myself.

I've not been home in 18 months. It looks like the name is now Bire de Garde

Here's how they see it...

"A bottle-conditioned, French farmhouse-style ale. The name refers to the beer's ability to improve with age and if you choose to age this ale, the tart fruitiness from the yeast and the sweet maltiness from the grains will meld together nicely for several years at cellar temperatures. (Available in bottles only)"

ABV:7.5%
IBU: 25

Oberon is fair, but it's been steadily going downhill since they changed the name from solsun in the 90's..........batches getting bigger and bigger......Give me the Bell's Two Hearted any day........also the Edmund Fitzgerald Porter is delicious. Deschute's is makes wonderful beer, though my brother told me he saw Black Butte in Wal-mart which bodes terribly for their future if you ask me. Not to mention all the bottling and distribution they've taken on for Kona Brewing, I hope Deschutes doesn't get too big for it's britches. We stand to lose a lot of gems. The key to it all is batch size, a lot of good beers started out small and then capitalized on their good brand name with expanded distribution (often after being bought out by one of the big boys) I miss the Glacier Brewhouse IPA out of Anchorage too. Oh, and LONG LIVE NATTIE LIGHT!!!
