|
|
I have a nano iPod which, by all accounts, is of the type where a layperson would not want to try to replace the battery (due to the way it's welded in there or something like that). The battery is getting weaker and weaker and needs to be replaced. I'm still in the States, but I'd have to send it somewhere to have a new one installed, and don't know if there's time before I go to Korea. Does anyone have experience getting in iPod battery installed in Seoul? Also, was the price outrageous or reasonable? Thanks for any tips. |

Thanks for the suggestion. I've had this ipod for about 3 1/2 years, though, so unfortunately it's too late for any warranties. Before posting, I did try googling things like 'replace ipod battery Seoul' etc but wasn't coming up with anything useful. My main concern is that, even if the battery can be replaced, the cost in Korea will be so much that I'm better off buying a new iPod. However, the iPod I have works perfectly fine, apart from the battery. |

iPod batteries (particulary those in Asia including Korea) have been known to explode. Ask for a replacement or you could suggest you will complain to Apple. |

anamika, I'm interested in knowing as well. My battery hasn't shown any signs of failing yet, but I'm just at the two year mark. I have the same kind of nano, although mine maybe a newer model, not sure. |

Better yet; write a song about your dead battery, exploding battery, or the inconvenience of not being to replace the batteries your self. Then, post on YouTube. United breaks guitars, and Apple makes IEDs? |

I had a problem with my Ipod that was out of warranty.
There is an Apple service centre in the basement of "Jeon-ja Land" in Youngsan electronics market.
It cost 150,000 to get fixed. |

I want to let you know that I took my iPod today to the iPhone Korea Nowon Service Center in Nowon, Seoul. The owner's name is Jae-Hyun Kim and he services iPhones, iPods, and iPads. He speaks perfect English and is a really friendly guy. On top of that, to get the battery replaced only cost me 50,000 won. I had a friend call the a# store in the Coex Mall and she got back to me that they were going to charge 280,000 won... No comparison!
Check out the website (http://applerepair.co.kr/en/index.html) and consider going there if Nowon isn't too far out of the way for you. I don't think you'll be disappointed. |

I had a problem with my ipod headphone socket. I took it to the place under the Apple store in Gangnam and they quoted 150,000won.
After realizing they were serious I left and took it here...
http://www.iprimo.co.kr/front/php/newpage.php?code=5
It is walking distance from Gangnam station and they charged me 25,000won. It took them about 5 minutes to fix it too.
I'm not sure if they do batteries but I imagine they would. Get a Korean to navigate the site for you and I'm sure it'll say what they do and don't do. |

Ipod is obsolete. The phones nowadays can do everything a Nano can do. |
