You were changed to 3 schools instead of two and you found out two of the new schools were off in the boonies. After talking to the former ft there you find out that the bus trip takes 35 minutes from a bus station that takes 10 minutes to walk to. You also find out that the bus runs once every hour, so she sometimes spend lots of time sitting in the rain waiting for this bus with an erratic schedule.

This would mean leaving home at 730 and arriving home sometimes after 6pm. In fine korean style they drove her for the first while and for no reason stopped driving her. I have been informed that the bus will be my means of transport even though the whole staff drives by my house every morning and night. What a way to welcome the new teacher and make his last 7 weeks hell.

Yeah, a scooter. Or better yet, buy a car for her remaining 7 weeks.

Are they paying her transportation and overtime? Seems like a long day. Does she get some kind of extra pay for working at mulitple schools? Not sure how that works.

Should most likely be read --- "what a way to welcome a new teacher and make his past 7 weeks hell."

And that is fairly clear based on the context. -- It is clear that by "last" he means the most recent - not 7 weeks left on his contract.

Come on, people...

I would stick it out for the contract, but would certainly not renew after that!

Ya I agree not a great work of art. I finish Oct 18th this year and they spring two new schools on me. Both are out in the boonies in one horse towns. I was trying to convey the experience of the former FT to show that these are hell schools. In other words I am pissed off that I have to go through all this new crap right before I leave.

Also a warning to people taking rural jobs. In this province they now have a new rule (Gyeongsangnamdo) where the new teachers have to teach in 3 schools. Some of the schools are difficult to get to and you will be made to feel like this is your fault. For some reason Koreans are not cool about driving Ft's to school. They make you feel like a lesser race that is not worthy of a ride to school.

The solution would be for the office of education to provide a car to teachers in these rural locations. What they do is try to pass the responsibility onto a Korean teacher. Once again you will find that they don't like bringing you to school in their cars.

You will be told when you apply that you are in one school. When you arrive you will get 3 and it will be the luck of the draw on your commuting times.

So my question is would you want a job where you had 3 schools in one week with long commutes.
