|
|
Okay about downloading movies and TV series etc There are many ways to do this. For me.. the easiest was is to use what is known as Bittorent. (bit-torrent)
All you need to know is that a bittorent file is a tiny file (1 15K usually) that you dont really need to download, and this file is special because it tells your computer how to look for the actual file you are looking for. It usually ends in the extension .torrent. More on that later...
Okay, so now you know what a bittorrent is, all you need to do is download a small piece of software (know as a Client). There are many others out there, but this one I am recommending is called Vuze. So go to this link (http://www.vuze.com) and download it. You will see it says Download Vuze.
So after running the install, it may ask to update what is called Java (no, not coffee) so allow it to update that, and it will continue to install. Also, I never install toolbars so de-select that option to install the toolbar.
Okay, the next step is to actually find these .torrent files and download them. If you look on the web, there are thousands of sites that offer torrents, so I will just name 2 free ones and I am sure you wont need much more.
http://www.mininova.org
http://thepiratebay.org/
You can search them just like Google for anything you want to watch, and somewhere it will say Download Torrent. So you just click the link and it will prompt you to open or save, you can just click Open and it will automatically start downloading what you want in the Vuze client.
I know this is a lot to digest, but torrent files are easy to understand, it is simply a file (an actual movie file for example) that is being shared by many multiple users called seeds. The .torrent file knows where to look for these actual files thanks to what is called Tracker servers, like the two I mentioned above. These servers keep dibs on what clients have what files seeded so your client software knows where to look.
So if there are many seeders your download will complete much faster. If there are no seeds (which does happen) your download will obviously not download. So one can see from the client how many seeds there are to how many leechers there are. When you first start downloading you are a leecher, once you have 100% completed the file/s you automatically become a seeder. So to give back to the community it is a good practice to seed a file you downloaded for some time, or at least until the ratio of the uploading you done is about five times that of what you downloaded (Thats my personal ratio)
Thats it for now, you can email me with more questions which I am sure you will have. But this will get you started. Note the Vuze torrent folder where to look for your downloaded file.
Thats all you need to know for now.
(Oh, and if this is not considered cool to post here then just delete the post, I dont care. I just posted this because a friend of mine has no clue about torrents)

Yes, there are many good clients. I just like Vuze because its simple to use. I agree its a slightly more of a resource hog, but I have a fast system so I dont really feel it.
And yes, you dont have to download the actual .torrent file, it will be automatically downloaded when opened. I updated the first post. I hope it makes it clearer.
And I also use eztv.it but it was down for a while.... Its nice to see that its up again. It is the best for TV series. |

My recommendations for BT client: utorrent (small and easy to use as well)
For movies: superfundo.org
For tv shows: eztv.it or eztv.nl
For anime: animesuki.com, baka-updates.com, or tokyotosho.info
For others: mininova.org, thepiratebay.org (they sold the site, and going the way of Napster, so I would consider using something else), torrentbox.com, isohunt.com, demonoid.com (Need invite from someone since registration is closed), or google.com (just search and you'll find torrents)
Any questions on anything, just post and people will reply =) |

Vuze is not accepted on some private trackers due to a possibility to pass wrong information |

Not sure what the 2002 and 2003 is about but anyway... good to see some old die hards here like Demo!! I am still working in IT in Ilsan, and enjoying it but been real busy.
As far as Vuze goes.... I never had any issues with Vuze myself, but then again I just use PB and Demonoid mainly. And if I am really desperate I use others like mininova. |
