Hi everyone. I am currently looking at teaching in Pusan at the moment. I was wondering if anyone can recommend good schools/recruiters. I found one advertising recently. They're called rbi korea. Their website http://www.rbikorea.com/ looks quite good in terms of them mentioning only getting good schools for you.
I am just doing some research at the moment. |

I would not recommend RBI, I'm not sure about others' experiences but mine was not positive. According to another recruiter I had talked to, since Busan is so popular schools find that they do not need to enlist the help of recruiters. Her advice was to look at Busan job postings online and apply directly to those schools (and it worked for me). When you find a school that you're interested in just type it into the search feature on this forum and you'll get your answers. |

I had a very bad experience with RBI when I was fresh meat for the hagwon grinder. They sent me to a horrible hagwon, and when the shit hit the fan, they acted even worse than being no help at all.
Don't believe any recruiter's hype about "only getting good schools for you". They really couldn't care less about you, so its up to you to stay on your toes. Send your resume to a whole bunch of recruiters. Try to get the email addresses of some of the other teachers (not just the Uncle Tom head teacher). Post the contract on Daves for other's opinions of it. And don't let yourself get pushed around.

Don't use them. I emailed them a couple of years ago and I think it took a month or two before they replied..haha, yeah I'm still interested in working with you. Emails could have been lost or forgotten so I can't totally blame them. Just my experience.
Edit: Any recruiter saying you can save up to $20,000 (roughly 25 million won) a year is full of...you know what. Sure, you can save a lot but 20 grand is hilarious. |

Technically, they aren't lying, because it is possible that much in Korea. You can't do it with a typical full-time job, but its possible. |

I tried using RBI several years ago when I first came to Korea. However, the contracts they were sending my way were all horrible. I ended up dropping them and going with an individual recruiter who found me a fairly decent hagwon, where I stayed for 2 years. Ironically, that hagwon also hired another teacher at the same time they hired me, and that teacher found that job through RBI. Makes me wonder why RBI never told me about that job. |

Can anyone recommend good recruiters for the Busan area? I'm in Busan on a tourist visa looking for work now. Or, if you know of any good jobs starting now, soon or later, then PM me! |

Haha, yeah. They forgot to mention the part about it either requiring extra, illegal work or a much better job than what they could ever offer. |

The recruiter that I used at that time is now living abroad and not recruiting anymore. So I don't know of any good recruiters at the moment. Sorry. |

For jobs in Busan try Kim'nJoe http://www.kimnjoe.com/
They found me my first hogwan job in Busan and were very helpful. They placed four teachers at my school and when we had a misunderstanding about vacation time Simpson from K&J came to talk to our director and sorted everything out for us. |
