I've heard that medical/dental/vision care is a lot more cheap than it is in the USA. Is this correct? I'm here for a year and while I'm here I might get a few things done if it's within my price range. I might get my wisdom teeth removed, and also some cavities filled. In regards to vision, I've heard that lasik surgery is cheap here so I might look into that. I don't have any pressing medical needs though.

I like their vision care. I got glasses + an accurate eye exam for about $130.00. I could have gotten it as low as $60.00 for cheaper glasses (and they weren't even those creepy child-molester glasses), but I prefer the designer ones.

I think a filling set me back, I don't know, about $65.00. But I'm not satisfied with the quality. In fact, I just went to the dentist in America today, and they noticed one of my fillings has a big crack in it. I just had that put in five months ago.

I've noticed that dermatologists are cheap. I'm allergic to metal and had to get some prescription skin cream. I talked with the doctor for about 10 minutes. Then he gave me a big sample tube so that I wouldn't have to buy some. He only charged me $10.00. It would have probably cost at least $150.00 in the U.S.

I was wondering about this too. I would pay double that price at home. Wouldn't be worth it if it's such bad work though, has anyone had fillings put in in Seoul and been satisfied with the quality? If so where?

I had LASIK done at Happy Eye in Gwangju in January, cost was 1.5 million won for both eyes. I was very happy with the quality of it. When I was back in US over the summer, I went to the eye doctor for a different issue, and the eye doctor commented on what a good job they had done and how they had used the most recent technology that in the US was not the standard lasik technology but one that people pay extra for. I would ask around for recommendations, and try to find a doctor who speaks English well. I was very thankful that he could explain what he was doing during the procedure.

i just got back from the dentist yesterday and the filing were super cheap. i think got 4, and in totall i paid 19,500KRW w/ insurance. i opted for amalgam though, if i would've got the plastic/enamel looking stuff it would've been 80,000 and for gold 200,000KRW.

so yeah, significantly cheaper than back home.

Could someone recommend an internist/general practitioner in the Cheonan/Asan area? A fluent English speaker is preferred.
