I was recently offered a job in the Gangdong district of Seoul, and was wondering if anyone living there or familiar with the area could tell me anything about it and whether or not it is a decent part of the city to live in. Thanks, folks.

I've lived in Gangdong for over a year and half now. I really like it here!! I think it suits just about any kind of person really. If you're an outdoorsy type then you've got Olympic Park which is really nice and they have a great swimming pool, Han River park next to Cheonho has a swimming pool too....it's a great place to chill day or night (really pretty to go down there at night).

You've got shopping at Hyundai Dept store in Cheonho, Jamsil isn't too far and there's Lotte World and Dept. store there as well. Uhmm, there are TONS of great restaurants, but I couldn't begin to give you directions to all of them. Cheonho's Rodeo Street is pretty cool at night for drinking and going out, especially on the weekends.

There is an E-mart at Cheonho and Godeok stations, there is a Homeplus at Gubeundari station. Papa John's and Pizza Hut (among others) will deliver to your front doorstep and they speak English or can transfer you to someone who does.

Also there's a really great sauna/jimjilbang at Bangi station...they have a swimming pool too. Lots to do in this area you just have to get out there are explore. PM me if you have any questions. Also check out their site at http://www.gangdong.go.kr/pub/eng/
