Man.. I dunno what she's cooking, but it smells like something that comes
out of a pigs arse! I thought I'd shit myself the other day.. disgusting.

Also she cooks fish at like 5am in the morning. Is there anyone else out there with a fish-cooking Ajumma problem? Anything I can say to her? I hate waking up thinking I'm in Lim's Chicken.

Any advice greatly received.

You could ask her to start cooking fish at 5 AM at night. That might help.

Why are many foreigners afraid to complain about even the simplest things? Do as i do. get a korean friend to translate a message of complaint into Korean. Practise it, and then call the apartment warden, he'll put you through to the apartment concerned,- whereupon you can politely state your case. Normally works, although afterwards they'll assume you're fluent in korean and keep making conversation.

Maybe you don't exactly smell like roses to her either? And hence the fish soup starting at 5 AM?

FFL007.. There's a level of Asian cleanliness that you can only dream about! She's called my fiancee and she's a hygiene freak! The fish at 5am makes her (I don't get it too bad as I usually set off for work at that time) want to puke. Have you anything constructive to add? No? Right.. byeeeee.

Rapier.. I'm not adverse to complaining, but is it too much to ask a middle aged lady to change her cooking habits? I wouldn't know how to broach the subject. Also I live in a house that's been split into three parts so no apartment warden.

Guess I'll just have to wait for another 6 months then move when my contract's up

it's an old Korean trick, she cooks smelly food until you finally get so disgusted and upset that you go downstairs to complain, only to find her half naked answering the door with a cucumber in one hand and a bottle of vegetable oil in the other.

Olive oil has a nice afer-taste. Cool

My neighbors went on vacation and their apartment started stinking BAD! Had they taken the grandpa with them?...been a couple of weeks since anyone had seen halaboji walking around. Everyone in the building came down to talk it over and my roommate got elected to climb in though a window. When he came around and opened the front door the smell poured out. People were gagging.

Just the denjang getting ripe.

When the neighbors came back they gave us some...good stuff, man.
