So, I watched the preview with my usual Alex Jones induced sneer and decided that I would pick the one part of the trailer that bothered me most and focus on that. That one part happened to be from 1:55 to 2:14. Alex Jones has edited it in a way that makes it appear that Obama is grooming a sort of "Hitler Youth" that is ready and willing to serve his every whim. I will admit (in my current drunken state) that after a good deal of research on this, I am disgusted with Obama and this bill that passed (HR 1388 was it?) which made obligatory mandatory volunteer service. I want to be proven wrong on this so please somebody post some evidence that a bill did not pass that made mandatory volunteer service to the nation.
BUT... I continue to object to Alex Jones and his followers, who continue to idiocize (is that a word?) their cause by platonizing the discussion by throwing around labels like "fascist" and "communist" and "socialist".

Can you post a link about that bill? I hadn't heard about it, but if it is "mandatory" it cannot be "volunteer." "Unpaid" maybe, but not "voluntary."

Now, yo have trouble understanding "fascist" and "communist" and "socialist," but we are supposed to understand "idiocize" and "platonizing?"

I believe bucheonbum posted some links of the bill a few posts down from my original post. I have not yet had time to look at them in depth, but I too am very curious as to whether the bill actually refers to the volunteering as mandatory.
In my opinion, Bacasper, it is alarmist to throw around the labels "fascist", "socialist", and "communist". Alex Jones would be able to make an excellent documentary I'm sure without throwing those simplistic labels around.

How do you know they were taken out of context? At least one commenter said they weren't because he watches a lot of news.

Well, golly, better take him at his word. The video is basically implying by working with allies and other governments to achieve global goals we are in fact actually just handing over our power to some shadowy one world government. Most of the quotes where just some talking head fear mongering. Who wants to bet a manwon there is a comparison drawn in the final video linking Obama's policies to Nazi Germany?

Did you have a point?

ubermenzch: Instead of getting one's panties all up in a bunch, I usually just take the terms "fascist," "socialist," and "communist" to have taken on the meaning of "totalitarian." Alternatively, "fascist" has come to just mean "intolerant" often, at least in America. I notice that Europeans still take more exception to its use that way.

That was his point: America can't possibly work with other countires because that'd mean a "one world government" OMG!

Errr... because that's not its meaning. Fascist is a very definite set of beliefs that probably hasn't been reproduced since WWII. Rightwingers bring it up because it scares people.

A couple of points:
Languages evolve, and word meanings along with them.

Also, one can distinguish between "Fascist"
Quote:
2. (often initial capital letter) a member of a fascist movement or party

and "fascist"
Quote:
3. a person who is dictatorial or has extreme right-wing views.

Coincidentally, I've been studying up on this word "fascist" since it's being used a lot lately to describe the direction this OBAMA Administration seems to be marching us toward.

[Don't end a sentence with a preposition.]

I beg to differ. A cursory glance at Wikipedia declares otherwise.

No common and concise definition exists for fascism and historians and political scientists disagree on what should be in any concise definition.

But yeah, probably hadn't been reproduced since WWII, UNTIL NOW.
AND IT SHOULD SCARE PEOPLE.

Hmmm, this particular bit of your shyte has been around at least since you predicted that Obama was toast during the election because of your pro-life non-issue but not as far back as when you were having "visions" of war on the Korean Peninsula.

Visions of a Korean war...no. A war with China, Russia and Iran against Israel...yes. And it's still coming.

As with Obama...I underestimated how persuasive and powerful his influence is and how evil people have become.

Anyway;
