Found an interesting stat.
Apparently, Koreans are ranked third when it comes to having favourable attitude toward the Americans ahead of traditional American allies such as Canada and Britain.
The result of the survey is quite surprising, but it must be valid as it was done by the US department of state.
Interestingly, Kenya is number one. I'm guessing it is due to the Obama effect.
So, I guess Americans aren't hated in Korea after all. |

I'd be interested in seeing how the questions are worded on the survey. Are the answer choices only favorable/unfavorable, or are there other possible answers?
I'm going to Kenya. |

Notice the Middle Eastern/Arab countries hate us the most. Love it!!!! |

Both Canada and the UK have been allies of the US since WW1. Korea only has been an ally of US since the Korean War.
Plus Canada and the UK are culturally similar to the US. That has to account for something. |

Not to be a stickler, but I think only one half of Korea is our ally |

I usually got favorable nods and such from the old timers when they heard I was from the states. I think it's due to the rebuilding efforts after the war, but that is just conjecture on my part.
We are still waegukin, but we rank slightly higher it seems. |

Interesting to see the drop in Turkey since 2001. I'm guessing it has to do with the "War or Terror". It's also interesting to see France's impressions jump so much (improved almost 100%) in a single year, Obama?
Speaking of Obama, notice that the impressions improved for all but 4 of the countries... hmm.

| It would be interesting to see Koreans' views on all countries to compare. |

| The dip in the French favorability comes from when Bush wanted to rename french fries to FREEDOM FRIES! (the Iraq War might have something to do with it too) |

LoL!!!! Though ahem, some Canadians have admitted to me that they do some what "thank us" for all the military spending we do because that means they spend less on it... uh yeah friggin Bush! I'd say TOO much was spent on it but what kind of say do I have towards the 30+ % of income tax they deduct from me... |

| If Brits want to hate America over the Iraq war, They should look closer to home first. Same goes for the Canadians in Afgahnistan. |
