I'm still here in Korea after being fired after less than two weeks on the job for being sick. I was told by an immigration officer that because my visa was canceled so soon, I don't need a release letter nor another criminal background check. Another recruiter said the same but then another recruiter I am talking to says I need another CBC. Which is true? I want to start working ASAP and get out of my inlaws' place, though it is rather comfy here.

Anyone want to place bets on what will happen to kentucker the weekend after his first payday?

a) waking up naked in a garbage bin in NK with no recollection of the previous nights activities
b) contracting an STD
c) going to jail and then having his wife spend all day on the phone trying to
bail him out
d) getting punched in the face
e) all of the above!

what's you guess?? Smile

Whatever Immigration told you is true.

If two Immi officers tell you different, even conflicting things, then both are true. Try to apply with the one who gave you the most favorable information.

If you have don't have the answer you want from Immigration, keep asking different people or offices until you get the answer you want.

If you want even more opinions come to Dave's.

Remember that 99.999% of the time, what you hear here is not true.

And when it is true, the majority of posters will tell you that it's not.

Don't believe any of this.

The immigration officer who talked to you had it right. The CBC is good for six months so you don't need another one if your CBC falls within that time frame.

Tell your recruiter "Nonsense the CBC is good for six months. Now get out there and hustle. Find me a job, chop-chop. Time's awasting and time is money. Hop to it, my lad!" (or "lass" depending on the gender)"

My new recruiter is telling me I need a release letter but immigration said the opposite. Recruiters here are morons.

And yet you are still coming here.

Actually, you wouldn't have it any other way.

It's a still shot from one of my favorite movies, Princess Monoke...a Japanese anime created Hayao Myazaki. I think that's how you spell his name. His movies are all top notch, even if you don't normally like animation.

My recruiter keeps emailing me saying that it is impossible for me to get another job until I go back to the states because immigration knows my health situation with this visa. One thing is for sure, I won;t be able to get a release letter from my school.

I was fired after only working for two weeks for being sick. Do I need a release letter to find another job here in Korea? Immi told me no, but another recruiter just told me she spoke to immmi and they told her I do need it. My director won;t give me a release letter.

ken, you don't need a release letter and it sounds like your visas been canceled. Go find another job then if they like you and hire you they will give you a new e2 visa. Honestly dude, you wouldnt have to run around and do all this bs if your wife just gave you permission to get a F series visa. You are doing this the retarded way. If you got that F series visa you wouldnt have to worry about these rules.

Trust me....don't I know it! We were going to get the F2 visa and I had a sweet gig lined up in Jeju-Do making 2.5 mil a month in walking distance from the school and a two bedroom apartment, but my wife changed her mind at the last second and said she wanted me to job hunt in LA. Well, I don't want to live in LA! You can't even walk around at night because it's so dangerous.

Now my wife blasted me out this morning and said she never wants to come back to Korea and for me to hurry up and get back home. Shit...I don;t want a crappy job back in the states when I could be living the easy life here and traveling whenever I want. Then she told me I was stupid for quitting my $11 an hour job. I'm starting to think the most important thing for her period is just to live in the states. Dang, I thought I had free will in life, but she acts like it's my duty to do exactly what she says.

Well, I have found a new job in Gimhae, but the recruiter is giving me a difficult time because she swears I need the release letter and we can't start the process until I get one. Time is ticking as I only have 5 days left to stay with my inlaws.

According to your posts if you are even legally married, you have been married less than a year. I hope that you like being divorced. I am serious. What kind of fool leaves his wife when she wants live somewhere else? You say the good life in Korea. You had a job that pays 11$ an hour. That isn't great but it is ok combined with whatever your wife makes. In Korea you will earn 17$ dollars an hour. Is it really worth it to have an extra 400$ a month to be apart from your wife?

Go back home. Korea doesn't seem to want you. YOu have had nothing but trouble, why take this abuse. You pulled a runner from one job, this job fired you. Do you really think any other job or place you live will be any better?

Your posts always make me laugh and I am glad that you are here, because my life never seems so bad in comparison. I feel really grateful that I don't have your luck or your life.

I do wish that things turn out better, but I doubt they will until you go back and live with your wife.
