The new drummer for the pumpkins is 19 years old!? How does a 19 year old fill Jimmy Chamberlain's shoes? From the official website....

Granted I haven't heard this guy play it just seems odd to me that a 40 something Billy Corgan would choose someone who is a teenager and wasn't even alive when the band was formed.

Surprising that Billy Corgan didn't just stick with a Drum Machine.

They are my favorite band, but they should just quit. Their newest album was awful, and I saw them in New York and it was a train wreck. Self indulgent guitar noodling for an hour and a half in between mocking the crowd until the crowd started booing and walking out. The last ten minutes were Corgan singing a gag song on a kazoo and basically telling everyone what idiots they were for giving him their money.

I heard the same thing happened a lot of the tour. Corgan is literally my favorite artist ever... I've been listening to the Pumpkins religiously since they came out... but he seems like a huge p-rick.

Yea, I saw them live in 1996 (my first concert ever). It was awesome. Then I saw them at this place called the Orange Peel in NC in 2007 when they reunited. They rocked both times. Even with the new band in 07. That last album sucked really bad though. There are a couple good songs but for the most part it sucked.

Makes perfect sense, since their music caters exclusively to teens.

There is no place called the orange peel in NC. I'm holding you accountable to mention where it is.

its so delicious... what you just wrote, i could have written word-for-word. its so disappointing, isn't it?
i consider myself really lucky to have seen them on the mellon collie tour, when they were the best band in the world. i wish he would just quit and stop ruining his legacy.
also i think he'd never admit it, but james iha and even darcy were way more important to the sound than people give them credit for. they had a kind of lightness that was totally gone from 'machina' and corgan's solo stuff, and as he continues to go down this egotistical, 10-minute-song, dirgy, over-distorted, tuneless path, he ruins our memories more and more...

zwan was ok though- what do you think?

Siamese Dream is still in my top 3 of all time. But, I can't get into this newer stuff.

Machina was the beginning of the end for me.

Ummm, I really don't know why I would just make that up but here is a link to the Orange Peel website. It is in Asheville North Carolina. It is a tiny venue.

And here is a link to the official pumpkins site with the setlist of the evening in case you were wondering. June 27, 2007

To Bobbyhanion....

Yea they really missed the mark after reuniting. The show I saw was awesome in 07 but only because that venue was so tiny and the setlist was really good. Zwan wasn't really good on their album but I saw them live in Atlanta and their live show was much better but only because Jimmy did these crazy drum solos for like twenty minutes. Yea, he should just hang it up for real tho.

An 18 year old drummer. He was probably a prodigy. Think Simon Phillips with Pete Townshend. Randy Rhodes with Quiet Riot/Ozzy.

The kid probably kicks ass, plain and simple!!
