The writer whitewashes Saddam's record and Chirac was a compulsive liar and a friend of Saddam Hussein.
Cause of those two things the credibility of the entire article is in question. |

Hello! Rumsfeld et al were also Saddam's friends at one point! The Bush's are still tight with Osama's family. Who's really lacking credibility here? |

Perhaps. But even Rumsfeld thought it appropriate to put biblical quotes on Bush's briefing notes, presumably under the assumption that they jived with Bush's overall worldview.
Granted, none of the quotes seem to have referenced end-time prophecy directly. |

The Bin Laden family is huge and is the second richest family in Saudi Arabia. They are the Saudi version of the Kennedys. The US supported Saddam in the 1980's cause he was fighting with Khomeni. Sort of like supporting Stalin against Hitler. Remember Khomeni was a fascist bigot too.
France and Russia sold much, much, more to Saddam than the US ever did. The entire Iraqi military consisted of French and Soviet and not US weapons. Likewise Saddam's chemical plants were from Germany too and not the US.
Chirac really was Saddam's friend, Chirac also hated and resented the US well before Bush was president.

But the allegation is coming from Thomas Romer, not Chirac. |

Of course Chirac the outstanding and honest man he is would never do anything like take Bush's words out of context or misrepresent what was said or done.[
Quote: |
Chirac recounts that the American leader appealed to their common faith (Christianity) and told him: Gog and Magog are at work in the Middle East. ... |
Why does Chirac get a free pass? |

In what context could gog and magog have been brought up that would not be strange? |

Maybe it was a very small part of what Bush said to Chirac, assuming that Chirac is telling to the truth which is far from certain.
I would not be surprised if Bush said more than a few stupid things in midst of saying other things that were substantial and rational.
Likewise that Chirac might take Bush's words out of context would not surprise me either. |

How ironic that you would accuse Chirac of being disingenuous!

would be hard to do a poll . Conspiracy theorists aren't exactly honest about their motives. |
Thanks for your honesty in admitting that you are engaging in groundless speculation. |
