Screw that. He was cold-cocked without even seeing it. That Thai kid was a wussy. If you want to fight, then fight. Don't hit someone from an angle they can't see. That was ridiculous. Anyone can knock out anyone if they have the time to wind-up and throw a punch that is 1000000% guaranteed to land because the other dude doesn't see it coming.

At first, I watched with the sound off. I just knew, just by looking at him, he was gonna be a Brit. You can just tell by his baldy little head and his posture. So I put my speakers on and - lo! - a Brit.

He also looks exactly like a violent drunk I encountered in Phuket. I'd literally only just arrived and settled down for a beer. This Briton, who I barely understood due to a thick regional accent, came over and said he'd had all his stuff robbed and would I buy him a beer, please, mate? I said sure. Less than one minute later he exploded and started attacking the female Thai servers, who had asked him to leave having caused trouble in the past. Dunno what happened to him because he made a quick getaway before myself, my friend and the other guys in the bar (mostly Germans) could grab him and call the cops.

I can't stand Thailand, I really can't. The disgusting Western riff-raff it attracts is just one reason, but if the Thais want to execute guys like him, that's fine by me. If someone tells me they "love" Thailand, my respect-o-meter plunges.

I've seen this a lot in Thailand and often it's because there is a rip off going on and the foreigner loses his / her temper. There's always a language barrier too. The Thais don't speak English all that well and the English they do speak is often largely unintelligible.

Dealing with the Thai people can be, and usually is, traumatic; whether it's ordering food from the men, checking out of a hotel or trying to take a taxi from Phuket airport. Over the years I've had many scams pulled on me and cameras and money stolen that I've finally given up on the place. Often the language differences make effective communication difficult also. And to add insult to injury, the Thais show so much disdain for the tourists that I don't know why anyone would ever return. If you don't buy their T-shirt or post-card, then swear at you in Thai or even tell you to take a hike in English. They are incredibly rude, xenophobic and nationalistic. The lese majesty laws are draconian and are used to curb freedom of speech rights.

Ko Pha Ngan and Samui are also horribly controlled by local mafia and on Ko Pha Ngan several tourists have been murdered by Thais. Situations where 10 - 15 Thai men will set upon a single tourist and stab him to death over an argument about a drink order. Horrible stuff. And the Thais all flee afterward and no one is ever charged or does any time.

Other things bother me about the place also, like the lese majesty lawas mentioned earlier.....for instance, a Thai lady yesterday received something like 28 years for mentioning the Thai royalty in a protest speech she made.

the Canadian guy from Calgary (the second Canadian from Calgary to be murdered in Thailand in 2008) was murdered by his wife and her Thai lover with the assistance of a local Thai assasin. They shot him in his sleep. She wanted to collect on a 1 million dollar insurance policy she would receive if he died. After she murdered him she went to the bank the next day and withdrew $21, 000 and gave his Harley Davison to her brother and the rest of the Thai family looted his house.

They make me sick.

After 10 years of going to Thailand on my breaks and learning some thai and spending a lot of money there, I've had enough. of the people and the country....They are violent, rude, nationalistitc, xenophobic, and generally just don't give a [Mod Edit] about the people they are in business to provide service to.

Other than just transit at the Savuun airport, I won't be going back to Thailand for a vacation.

The place is a [Mod Edit] and I'd rather spend my money somewhere in an economy with people who don't mind having foreign visitors.

^ Whoa, the thing about canadian's thai wife hiring a local assassin to murder him is definitely f***ed up.

The video's title is sort of a giveaway.

Yeah, but the title says they fight. That was no fight. I'm with cubanlord. That made me sick. A kid hits a guy who isn't looking and then walks away and another guy kicks him in the face while he's down? I hope the guy who filmed this showed it to the cops and those guys are spending time in jail. Sucker-punching, ganging up and kicking a man when down and unconscious, it doesn't get much more cowardly and despicable than that.

We went to Phuket for our honeymoon and something about the place just didn't do it for us. It just didn't have that "feel" that you would expect, sort of the Hawaii of Asia vibe. Just kind of a dirty, noisy vibe. I really don't see why people rave about the place.

It's really unclear what had happened here isnt it? It's not even clear if the guy really is British or not.

The only clear thing is he is drunk, and if he were sober probably would have just walked away rather than get aggro.

yeah Phuket is the place I liked least in the whole country. Probably just the attitude of some of the locals.

I was over Thailand years ago and have stopped going...for reasons mostly mentioned above.

Cambodia's nearly as bad. If someone tells you they 'loved' Phnom Penh, back away slowly and avoid eye contact.
