wow... what did i get in my email today?
"The Korea Times has decided that the critical and negative comments are too much to bear and has "suspended" my Series. I am letting you know of this development in case you wonder why there are no more "Jon Huer Columns" appearing in the Korea Times."
... wow maybe KT has decided that they have had enough of race baiting...
... I just found his articles poorly written and reasoned... with his "Ph.D."
... I'm not a perfect writer but English wasn't my major and I certainly don't claim to have a Ph.D.
questions? comments? corrections? |

I didn't think he was awful, but he wasn't great. No big loss. I wouldn't have noticed, I don't think, if you hadn't posted this. |

Is it just a coincidence that this happened immediately after he wrote an article highly critical of Korea rather than of English teachers in Korea? |

Agreed. I myself responded to him personally regarding one of his articles regarding English teaches here in Korea (I am not an English teacher)
Despite my email which basically called him out on what I saw as a gross generalization of the group of people he was targeting...he had the decency to respond to my email with his own arguments. Even though we disagreed somewhat on the issue, I appreciated the fact that the guy cared enough about my opinion enough to respond.
I don't know about any recent articles he wrote that may have bashed Korea or ruffled the feathers of Koreans. Personally I respect the fact that while the guy may have an opinion that some groups may not like..to paraphrase his own words..he does not write articles to please this group or that group. Ican't say I will miss his articles, but at the same time..wonder what other bozo will replace his space with their own dribble...perhaps some guy talking about how great Korean food is, or about how the Korean economy is so strong?
Peace be with you John. You may have had some articles that did not sit well with the group here on Dave's but i think many here can agree that at least addressing the issue is better than what the Korean media does to this group. |

i don't know if it was "highly" critical, but yes, he took Korea(ns) to task on a number of fronts.
I was surprised when I read it and in fact posted the link here.
coincidence?
I'd bet otherwise. |
